Safeguard Your Deliveries With A Yale Smart Delivery Box

Yale Home has finally announced availability for its Smart Delivery Box lineup, reports say. The new smart home security gadget — announced at CES 2020 — does exactly what its branding says. Namely, it’s designed to help keep packages and other deliveries safe from would-be thieves.

Unlocking the box requires either a keypad pin code, with a keypad sold separately, or a smartphone app. The keypad can be installed separately from the box and works wirelessly.

The box comes in two styles, with different sizes and colors as well as different features. The smaller box, dubbed the “Kent” model, is light gray. “Brighton,” conversely, is dark gray. The boxes measure 19.5 x 19.88 x 28.75-inches and 16.5 x 22.5 x 11.5-inches, respectively.

Each sets up using the Yale Access App and can be managed from anywhere via the app too. So, thanks to an included Yale Connect Wi-Fi Bridge, it can also notify consumers about deliveries in real-time. That’s in addition to its unlock, lock, and access sharing capabilities as part of its smart home integration.

What makes the Yale Smart Delivery box stand out?

Now, there are also a few other differences between the two boxes, in addition to the advantages that set the device apart. For example, an optional keypad is available for just $50 over the price of either Yale Smart Deliver Box.  The larger Kent model also comes with a soft-sided cooler bag for a bit extra. So buyers can have their grocery deliveries protected too, just in case they aren’t home to collect them.

Support is also available out-of-the-box for Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple’s Siri.

Of course, a box wouldn’t be much good if thieves can simply pick it up and walk away. Or at least it wouldn’t be much safer than standard deliveries. Especially since that would only mean thieves have to force or hack open the box once they’ve stolen it. But Yale Home has a solution to that too, with these smart devices.

To that end, Yale Home actually has two solutions. And they can be used separately or simultaneously. First, the boxes are designed in such a way as to allow them to be weighted down. That’s either with sand or some other filler material. Second, buyers can also tether them to a more permanent fixture, such as a handrail.

What’s this going to set you back?

Now, the peace-of-mind on offer with the Yale Home Smart Delivery Box isn’t going to be cheap. And it really shouldn’t be, with consideration for the potential price of things it will be protecting and its features. The larger Kent model starts off at $279.99 or can be purchased, as per the company’s initial announcement, with a cooler bag for $299.99.

The optional keypad, as noted above, would stack on top of that to bring the price to either $329.99 or $349.99.

For the smaller Brighton Model, pricing starts at $229.99. Or it can be purchased with the keypad for $279.99.
