So, finally the latest and greatest custom skin from Samsung, i.e. the One UI 2.5 is now making its way to the Samsung Galaxy S10 series.
However, note that not all the devices under the Galaxy S10 series are picking up the One UI 2.5 update. Reportedly, the Galaxy S10 Lite misses out on this new update.
Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 20 series devices back in August 2020. And with that, it introduced One UI 2.5 that brings more improvements and performance update for the Galaxy phones.
Recently, the Galaxy S20 series phones also picked up the One UI 2.5 update. Apparently, it was time for the Samsung Galaxy S10 series to taste the new One UI 2.5 update.
Notably, as per user reports, the update is currently live in Germany. Moreover, it brings the latest September 2020 security patchset for the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus.
According to a report, the Galaxy S10 is receiving the update with firmware version G973FXXU8DTH7, and it sizes around 963.49MB.
The Galaxy S10e gets the update as version G970FXXU8DTH7, while the Galaxy S10+ (S10 Plus) gets it as version G975FXXU8DTH7.
One UI 2.5 brings DeX functionality, Single Take feature, Pro Video mode, and more
Talking about the features of this new update, the One UI 2.5 update adds DeX functionality. It lets you mirror your Galaxy smartphone’s DeX UI wirelessly to any smart TV.
Moreover, you can also adjust the screen size and font size on the DeX UI via the quick setting toggle for the Wireless DeX mode. This feature debuted with the recently released Galaxy Note 20 series.
Besides this, the update also brings a single-take feature for the camera. This capture 14 images and videos from multiple lenses so that you do not have to capture image or video from different lenses separately.
Additionally, there is a custom range of capture time from 5 seconds to 15 seconds. There is another functionality that has been enhanced for the camera app with this update.
It is called Pro Video Mode. Basically, it gets more advanced features to tweak and capture videos. This new Galaxy S10 series One UI 2.5 update also makes it easier to share WiFi credentials on other Galaxy devices.
As per the changelog, the keyboard search feature is also added that lets you search for YouTube videos via the keyboard search. It also supports landscape mode for easy typing.
The SOS function has also been improved. Now, users can share their live location every 30 minutes for 24 hours. Furthermore, the Always On Display now lets you use Bitmoji stickers.
The update is live in Germany and arriving via OTA
As usual, the update is hitting the Galaxy S10 series devices, i.e. the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Plus, and Galaxy S10e, via OTA in batches.
Meaning that it will take some time in arriving on all the units. Interested users can head over to Settings>>Software Update, and check for the updates manually. Since the update is currently live in Germany, we expect other European countries to pick up the update soon.
