Samsung‘s upcoming rugged Android tablet, the Galaxy Tab Active 3, could launch anytime now. The device has been picking up the necessary certifications pretty rapidly over the past couple of weeks. Now, it has got support pages on Samsung’s official websites as well.
Samsung’s German and UK websites have published support pages for an unannounced device with model number SM-T575. Going by previous leaks and certification listings, this is none other than the LTE variant of the Galaxy Tab Active 3. Samsung is also preparing Wi-Fi-only (SM-T570) and 5G (SM-T577) variants of the new rugged tablet.
The official support pages for the Galaxy Tab Active 3 do not reveal anything about the device itself. However, we already know a lot about the upcoming Samsung tablet, thanks to all those leaks, rumors, and certification listings in the recent past.
Galaxy Tab Active 3 rumored specifications
It’s been nearly three years since Samsung last launched a rugged Android tablet. The successor to the Galaxy Tab Active 2 is now finally arriving, with three years worth of changes and improvements. According to a Geekbench listing, the Galaxy Tab Active 3 will be powered by the Exynos 9810 chipset with 4GB of RAM. The tablet scored 723 points in the single-core test and 2,085 points in the multi-core Geekbench test.
It’ll debut with One UI 2.x based on Android 10, hopefully, One UI 2.5. The device packs an EB-BT575BBE battery module with a rated capacity of 4,900mAh (5,050mAh typical). For a quick reminder, the Galaxy Tab Active 2 launched in October 2017 with the Exynos 7870 chipset, 3 GB of RAM, Android 7.1 Nougat, and a 4,450mAh battery.
As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy Tab Active 3 will come in Wi-Fi-only, 4G LTE, and 5G variants. It will become Samsung’s first rugged tablet to support 5G, joining an ever-growing list of 5G-capable Galaxy devices. The Bluetooth SIG recently certified the tablets with Bluetooth 5.0. The new rugged Samsung tablet misses out on the latest Wi-Fi standard, Wi-Fi 6, though.
In terms of size and design, the Galaxy Tab Active 3 shouldn’t look and feel too different from its predecessors. The tablet measures roughly 215 x 130mm, which is identical to that of Tab Active 2, which measures 214.7 x 127.6 x 9.9mm. Since ruggedness is the primary focus here, the tablet will still feature three physical navigation buttons, a rare sight in 2020 as we push for all-screen mobile devices.
Samsung has yet to announce a launch date for its new rugged tablet. However, with support pages going live on its websites, an official introduction for the Galaxy Tab Active 3 may not be too far off now.
