The Galaxy Z Fold 2 has finally been announced, completely, by Samsung. And we also know the price for the Galaxy Z Fold 2. It’s not cheap.
Of course, we knew that it was not going to be cheap, because it’s a foldable, with two displays, and the Galaxy Z Flip 5G is already $1500.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is going to set you back $1,999. That’s a small 1% price hike for the Galaxy Z Fold 2. So yes, it went up in price, but it’s not that bad. Especially considering it has 5G, whereas the original did not come with 5G support.
There is a Thom Browne version that will be available and priced at $3299. But for that price you are also getting the Galaxy Buds Live, Galaxy Watch 3, as well as a carrying bag. So you’re not just paying $1300 more for that special paint job and the “Thom Browne” name.
When can I buy the Galaxy Z Fold 2?
Galaxy Z Fold 2 pre-orders will start tonight at midnight – so that is 12:01AM ET on September 2.
Samsung is saying that these will ship by September 18, and that’s when you can buy the device.
Currently, there are no pre-order freebies for the Galaxy Z Fold 2, and we don’t expect that to change. Samsung doesn’t want everyone running out and buying this device, as it is still a semi-prototype device. That’s part of the reason why the price is so high. The other part is the fact that this technology is all new and costs more to put into a phone like this.
Where can I buy it?
You will be able to buy the Galaxy Z Fold 2 from Samsung.com in both unlocked and carrier models.
You can also purchase it from AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon.
So far, Samsung has not confirmed whether you’ll be able to purchase the Galaxy Z Fold 2 from other retailers like Best Buy and Amazon. Which you probably won’t be able to, since Samsung offers its Z Premier Service with the Galaxy Z Fold 2. And it likes to be able to walk new customers through the device and setting it up. But we should find out around September 18, whether that is true or not.
As for now, your choices are Samsung.com, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. And it does support both Sub-6 and mmWave 5G networks, so it will support Verizon’s current 5G network. As well as its nationwide 5G network it is rolling out later this year.
