Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 got fully announced today. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is arguably the most interesting device Samsung ever introduced, and it’s time to take a closer look at its specifications.

We’ve already covered the initial launch of the device, for those of you who are wondering. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 does have quite powerful specifications, so there’s plenty to look forward to here.

The device features two displays. The main display, the one that folds, measures 7.6 inches. That is a QHD+ (2208 x 1768) Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, and it has support for HDR10+ content.

The other display, the one that doesn’t fold, measures 6.2 inches. That is a 2260 x 816 Super AMOLED display. This panel offers a 60Hz refresh rate, though.

Both of those displays are flat, in case you were wondering. The one on the inside is a UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) panel with a plastic layer on top of it. The one on the outside is your regular display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass on top of it.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 offers powerful specifications, including the Snapdragon 865 Plus

The Snapdragon 865 Plus fuel the Galaxy Z Fold 2 (worldwide). That is the most powerful processor Qualcomm has to offer at the moment, it’s a 7nm SoC.

The device packs in 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 256GB of non-expandable UFS 3.1 flash storage. So, Samsung included the last-gen RAM and UFS storage in here, as expected.

Android 10 comes pre-installed on the device, along with Samsung’s very own UI. The phone does include stereo speakers, one is a top-facing one, while the other one shoots sound from the bottom of the device. Dolby Atmos support is included (Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus).

A side-facing fingerprint scanner is also included in this package, and the same goes for Bluetooth 5.0 and 5G connectivity (NSA; SA, Sub6 / mmWave). The device does not include a 3.5mm headphone jack, in case you were wondering.

A 4,500mAh battery is here to power the device, while the phone supports 25W wired charging (Quick Charge 20 and AFC). The Galaxy Z Fold 2 also comes with support for 11W fast wireless charging (WPC and PMA), and 9W reverse wireless charging aka Wireless PowerShare, as Samsung calls it.

There are also five cameras included here

In terms of cameras, it has five overall. There are three on the back of the device, those are the cameras that are always available. One is placed on the cover display, on the outside, while the last one sits inside the main display.

All three rear-facing cameras are 12-megapixel sensors. The phone’s main camera is a 12-megapixel unit with an f/1.8 aperture lens. It offers OIS, 1.8um pixel size, and an 83-degree FoV (Field of View). Super Speed Dual Pixel AF is also included.

A 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera offers an f/2.2 aperture lens, with 1.12um pixel size, and 123-degree FoV. The 12-megapixel telephoto camera, on the other hand, supports PDAF, OIS, and it comes with 1.0um pixel size. This camera offers a 45-degree FoV, while it enables 2x optical zoom, and 10x digital zoom.

Front-facing cameras are actually identical. Both are 10-megapixel units, with an f/2.2 aperture lens. Both offer 1.22um pixel size with 80-degree FoV (Field of View).

When folded, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 measures 159.2 x 68 x 16.8mm. When unfolded, it measures 159.2 x 128.2 x 6.9mm. The phone weighs 282 grams.
