Samsung plans to make a lot of Galaxy Z Fold 2 smartphones in 2020. According to a new report by Yonhap News Agency, the company will manufacture up to 800,000 Galaxy Z Fold 2’s in 2020.
This information is based on the info industry sources provided. It seems like Samsung plans to increase sales of foldable smartphones. Do note that this volume is higher than what Samsung did last year with the Galaxy Fold.
Samsung plans to manufacture a lot of Galaxy Z Fold 2 units in 2020, in several different plants
The company will not manufacture the device only in South Korea. Samsung will also manufacture in Vietnam and Brazil, if sources are to be believed.
An industry insider said that moving the production to overseas plants proves that the yield rate has been stabilized. Samsung seems to be looking into cutting costs for foldable smartphone production.
According to analysts, the sales of Samsung’s foldable smartphones could reach up to 3 million this year, as the company managed to expand its foldable lineup. As a reminder, aside from the Galaxy Fold and Z Fold 2, the Galaxy Z Flip and Z Flip 5G are also available.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 will face some competition from the Microsoft Surface Duo and Huawei Mate X2. Also from its very own Galaxy Z Flip and Z Flip 5G devices.
Motorola is also expected to announce its new Razr-branded foldable smartphone in the near future. So, that will be yet another competitor for Samsung’s new foldable flagship.
Analysts believe Samsung has a firm grip on the foldables market
According to analysts, however, Samsung is likely to beat its competitors, which is not difficult to imagine. The Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold 2 are currently regarded, by many, to be the best foldable choices at the moment.
According to an analyst from Eugene Investment & Securities, Roh Kyoung-tak, “Samsung has reconfirmed its technological prowess in foldable smartphones, so it is likely to take a leading position for quite an amount of time”.
That analyst also added that Samsung has a rather diversified foldable product lineup this year. He also added that the company’s foldable smartphone sales could expand to 8 million units in 2021.
Samsung is also rumored to release a more affordable Fold smartphone. The Galaxy Fold Lite has been rumored for quite some time now. It remains to be seen if it will arrive before the end of 2020. That device could appeal to many people with the right price tag, as the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is extremely expensive. Speaking of which, it’s already available to pre-order.
