Arlo has introduced two new security cameras, the Arlo Pro 4 and Arlo Ultra 2. As seen with the previously launched Arlo cameras, the newly launched Pro & Ultra variants also come in wire-free design and offer months-long battery life.
Both the newly announced wire-free security cameras are currently available for pre-order. The mid-tier Arlo Pro 4 is priced at $199.99 and ships on October 28. Whereas, the high-end Arlo Ultra 2, priced at $299.99, will start shipping to buyers from October 18. It also comes in a four-camera kit priced at $899.99.
Arlo Pro 4 with Wi-Fi connectivity can be used as a standalone security camera
The Arlo Pro 4 packs all the popular features offered by its predecessor, the Arlo Pro 3. It supports 2K video with HDR and a 160-degree wide-angle view. Apart from a smart siren and color night vision, there is also an integrated spotlight.
While the Arlo Pro 4 misses out on Apple HomeKit compatibility, it works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT. Moreover, it now connects directly to Wi-Fi without the need for SmartHub or Base Station. This will surely make the installation and setup easier for the new buyers.
If you already own a hub, the new Arlo Pro 4 can offer even better camera range and longer battery life. Speaking of the high-end Arlo Ultra 2, it supports 4K video with HDR and a 180-degree wide-angle view. With autofocus, it can also zoom and track the moving objects.
Both cameras will last up to six months on a single charge
Additionally, it also comes packed with an integrated smart-siren and spotlight. Unlike the Pro 4, the Ultra 2 doesn’t work as a standalone security camera. It needs to be paired with a SmartHub. However, it is compatible with Apple Homekit, in addition to Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT.
The weather-resistant design allows the Arlo Pro 4 and Ultra 2 to work both indoors and outdoors. Both the cameras support two-way audio for listening and speaking to visitors. Furthermore, these cameras also come with color night vision instead of just black and white colors.
Notably, the rechargeable battery on these cameras will last for up to six months on a single charge. The company is also offering a 3-month Arlo Smart subscription for free with both these new home security cameras. It comes in two tiers — Premier and Elite, starting at $2.99 and $4.99 per month respectively.
With this subscription, the users can view 30 days of video recordings with up to 4K resolution. There are even more benefits like advanced object detection, package detection, and cloud activity zones.
