Crash Bandicoot will be available on a global scale to Android players sometime next year.
A trailer for Crash Bandicoot Mobile, officially titled Crash Bandicoot: On The Run!, was posted on YouTube this morning by King, the game’s publisher, and it details the Android release window.
Of course the release window also includes iOS. So this is more of a global mobile release instead of an Android release. Crash Bandicoot: On The Run! was released in a soft launch period to Malaysia earlier this year. So some users on Android can already play the game.
That soft launch was also quite some time ago. Showcasing that not even mobile games from one of the world’s biggest mobile game publishers are immune to longer development times.
King doesn’t appear to have stated officially that the game was ever set to release in 2020. But the time between a 2021 launch and a soft launch in April of 2020, is a long time. Which could mean there might have been a plan to launch it this year at one point.
Crash Bandicoot: On The Run! will head to Android in the Spring of 2021
Right now there’s no exact date for the release of this game. The closest King has come to announcing when the game will reach players globally is next Spring.
Which puts it about a year out from the soft launch in Malaysia that happened back in April. If the game launches on the same day, or at least in the same month, then it’ll be almost exactly a year.
In addition to the launch window, King’s new trailer for the game shows off a little bit of the gameplay.
That being said, if you’ve been aware of the Malaysian soft launch of Crash Bandicoot: On The Run! then you may have already seen the game and its contents. You may have even played it yourself.
Crash Bandicoot: On The Run! is endless running in all its free-to-play glory
Free-to-play games get a bad rap. And most of the time perhaps for good reason. But not all free-to-play games are bad. Crash Bandicoot: On The Run! may serve as a good example of a decent game in the free-to-play arena.
For one it’s an endless runner. Which time and time again have proven to be popular games that players will latch onto. It’s also based on a beloved franchise that may capture the hearts of some PlayStation fans that enjoy mobile games.
Even if it isn’t the most popular game on the planet when it launches, it’s bound to find a niche market. You can also pre-register for it on both the Play Store and the App Store if you haven’t already done so.
