Facebook Rolling Out Dark Mode, But Not To Everyone

In a move that users have been waiting for what feels like an age, Facebook has finally begun rolling out a dark mode for iPhone and Android users, but not to everyone. This change is still in the testing period. As reported by Tech Radar, this will finally give users a better solution for using Facebook in darker environments.

To be fair to Facebook, it has been working hard to add new features and innovations to the platform. These have included a new tabbed news feed to try and help users find the posts they want to. This has come to the platform alongside some other useful additions.

The platform has also had to take a number of actions to target the spread of misinformation in the run-up to the election. Most recently the company has taken down a number of fake accounts spreading fake news.

This has been a challenging period for social media companies with many platforms trying to curb the spread of misinformation whilst not incurring the wrath of politicians.

Facebook finally introduces a dark mode

Android and iOS users will be very happy to finally have access to a dark mode on the app. It has taken a lot of time to do so given that the website and the data-saving Facebook Lite mobile app has it.

Facebook has begun publicly testing the feature across its official apps. The company has not yet made an official announcement about the feature but it is coming.

However, because it is a test we have very little detail about the feature. We know that not everyone will receive the feature right now as the testing will be limited to certain groups.

It appears that Facebook has rolled the feature out to a select number of users to ensure the feature works as intended. Unfoturntley, there are no tricks to make the option shows up for you as it is controlled server-side.

There is a way to see if you are one of the lucky ones to get the feature early. By going to settings in the Facebook app then look in the Settings & Privacy section you can see if the option is there to enable.

If not you will just have to wait. Unfortunately, again we do not know for how long that will be for. We will have to keep our ears to the ground to wait for any news on the topic. Hopefully, the testing process will be a short one and all of us can receive the feature sooner rather than later.
