Google introduced its new Pixel smartphones yesterday, but it seems like the company did not ship review units beforehand. We didn’t get one, nor did we see unboxings from other sources on YouTube. Well, someone unboxed the Google Pixel 5 already, and uploaded it to YouTube.
This unboxing surfaced on the ‘Sergiu’ YouTube channel, and it seems like the user is from the UK. We don’t know how he managed to get his hands on the device, but there you have it. The video is embedded below.
Someone already unboxed the Google Pixel 5 in the UK
This unboxing video has a duration of about four and a half minutes, and it will give you a really good look at the phone. This video proves that the phone’s bezels are as thin as we thought, thinner than on the Pixel 4a and 4a 5G.
You’ll also be able to take a closer look at the phone’s back side, which is quite interesting. Google actually used recycled aluminum here, but it put a coating on top of it. Wireless charging coils are also placed on the back, as the device does support wireless charging.
The Google Pixel 5 is quite compact, actually. It comes with a 6-inch fullHD+ 90Hz OLED display, which is flat. The phone includes two cameras on the back, where you’ll notice its fingerprint scanner as well.
This video shows that the user guide, plus a SIM ejector tool are included in the box, of course. An 18W charger, and charging cable are also there, as is a Quick Switch Adapter.
That’s pretty much everything, at least when it comes to the UK retail unit. You’ll also notice that Google used its well-known style for the retail box as well. The color of the phone you’ll get will be highlighted on the box, as the device itself will be shown, from the back.
The phone comes with a mid-range chip
The Google Pixel 5 is actually fueled by the Snapdragon 765G this time around. That is a mid-range SoC, as Google opted not to release a Pixel phone fueled by the Snapdragon 865 (Plus).
The phone also comes with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage. Android 11 comes pre-installed on the device, as expected.
Google did introduce some new camera features along with this smartphone, some useful camera features. The Google Photos app that comes pre-installed on the phone also comes with an improved editor.
There are many more changes worth talking about when it comes to the Pixel 5. We’ve already talked about them on the site, so visit our Pixel category to find out more. Or, alternatively, you can check out our initial announcement of the device.
