According to the new report by The Verge, Gmail mistakenly removed the select all button that lets the users tackle hundreds of emails at once.
Gmail is the goto email client app, be it on smartphone or desktop for several users across the globe. Like me, there are many users who like to keep their inboxes neat and tidy.
However, The Verge highlights that Google removed the button that lets you get rid of the button which gives you the option to read, archive, or delete hundreds or thousands of messages at once.
Good thing is that Google says that it was done unintentionally. And the team is working on bringing back the button as soon as possible, as Google told The Verge.
It is interesting to see this important button that lets you maintain your Gmail was removed. But blaming Google here would be unfair.
Because a Gmail help thread from seven days ago went unanswered. Meaning that Google’s own support team were totally unaware of the change.
Fortunately, Google has acknowledged this change and as said to The Verge, the company will bring back the “select all conversations that match this search” button soon. And Google even apologized for this inconvenience.
Instead of the select all button, a navbar appears with a handful of shortcut buttons
As per the source, the change is not fruitful. Moreover, instead of the “select all…” button, Gmail users are seeing a navigation bar with houses a bunch of shortcuts.
These shortcut buttons are not that helpful for those who are habituated with the “select all conversations that match this search” button on Gmail.
For the time being, for those who wish to read, archive, or delete hundreds or thousands of conversations at once, you are required to use a filter, until the search all button makes a return.
Basically, you need to use the “Also apply filter to matching conversations” button and delete the filter afterward. Well, this is the workaround that you can follow.
Or you can let those hundreds or thousands of emails pile up for some time and wait till Gmail adds that “select all…” button back for the users.
For now, all we can do is wait for Google to fix this issue on Gmail. Because it is one of the important features that lets you clear the old trash out of your inbox.
Besides, it also helps you to keep Gmail clean. We will keep you posted about any further developments in this regard.
@gmail Hey, how come there's no longer an option to "Select all conversations" to mark thousands as read at once?
I'm typing "is: unread" + selecting the "All" check box, but instead of "Select all conversations" at the top of my screen, it says "No results found"…? pic.twitter.com/dercwGE5OE
