According to the official blog, Google has announced that it is bringing its own VPN (Virtual Proxy Network). The VPN service will be called Google One, and the subscription starts at $9.99.
Being online, one thing is for sure someone or other has an eye on the data of yours. Be it for good or for the bad, there are eyes prying for the data. And for the protection of user’s privacy and security, there are tons of VPN available.
What these VPN services basically do is help protect your data and privacy by encrypting your internet connection. Well, now Google is also venturing into the same category as Google One.
Google One is not the first VPN product from Google. It already has one VPN service, but that is available only for the Google Fi subscribers and that too on Android smartphones.
However, the good news is that Google has developed its full-fledged VPN service for all Android users. Moreover, this will be available for free for any 2TB Google One cloud storage subscriber in the US. But hang on in there, there’s a catch to it.
The positive thing about this Google One VPN service is that it will soon expand over to iOS users as well. Besides, Windows and macOS users will also get to use this VPN in other countries very soon.
Google One VPN extends the security to encrypt all the phone’s online traffic
While Google notes that all of its product has multiple layers of security built-in, Google One VPN would bring security to encrypt all of the phone’s online traffic.
This Google One VPN service would protect your online presence, be it on whatever app you are on. Now coming to the “free for any 2TB Google Cloud users” claim that Google has made while announcing this VPN service.
As per the official plans, any user who wishes to use Google One VPN service needs to be on 2TB Google One Plan, which costs $9.99/month. Or yearly calculating, $99/year. So, it is not exactly a free VPN.
We are thinking this is just Google’s other way of luring in the customers to its cloud storage offerings. Back in August, it announced that all the data of the Android and iOS users would be backed up on the cloud storage for free.
Additionally, Google has also announced a Pro Sessions by Google One with VPN support. This would help the users connect on a one-on-one session with a Google expert to learn more about the VPN.
The 2TB plan offers users benefits like 10% back in store credit on all Google Store device purchases, you can share Google One VPN service with up to 5 family members and more.
