Samsung has its own custom skin, One UI 3.0, which is based on Android 11. There are tons of new features that this One UI 3.0 Android 11 update brings. And one among them is double tap to sleep, which is now live for the Galaxy devices.
Notably, the update is in the beta phase for select Galaxy smartphones. A few countries can already experience the One UI 3.0 update via the pre-release builds.
Samsung Galaxy S20 series devices are the front runners in this One UI 3.0 beta phase. So, it is quite evident that the S-series flagships from Samsung would get updated to Android 11, first.
Apart from adding new features, One UI 3.0 also enhances and refines some already existing features. Double tap to sleep feature is one of the key features embedded with One UI 3.0.
Needless to say, you might have understood what this double tap to sleep feature does from the name itself. Basically, it lets the Galaxy users put their phones to sleep by simply double tapping an empty area of the home or lock screen.
It is similar to the double tap to wake feature, which does the opposite and wakes up the screen. Although this is not a path-breaking feature, it is sort of nifty feature that OEMs put in their UI for expanding the list of features.
The double tap to sleep feature is only available for One UI 3.0 beta update
Double tap to sleep feature is buried under the Settings menu of the Galaxy phone. Moreover, it is only available for Galaxy users, who have got their hands on the early builds of One UI 3.0.
If you are fortunate enough and have picked up One UI 3.0 Android 11 beta update, then you can head over to Settings>>Advanced Features>>Motions and gestures>>enable Double tap to sleep.
Once you have enabled this One UI 3.0 double tap to sleep feature, then you can head over to your home or lock screen. Then double tap on the empty area of your device’s screen.
As already mentioned, this is not a new concept. In fact, several third-party apps already allow the user to do this action on their devices. It is just that now Samsung users would do it, officially.
There are some more nifty features that the One UI 3.0 Android 11 update would bring for the Samsung phones. Since the update is still under beta phase, more features would be unveiled as time goes by.
It is expected that the stable version of One UI 3.0 update would be released on a Galaxy phone before the end of this year. If you have already received this new feature, let us know in the comments below.
