Ring Video Doorbell 3 Gets Holiday Faceplates & Chimes

Halloween is just a week away, and the companies are pulling out all the spooky stops to make the best use of this holiday season during the ongoing pandemic. Ring, the Amazon-owned company, has launched Holiday-themed faceplates and chimes for its new Video Doorbell 3 and Video Doorbell 3 Plus.

The newly launched interchangeable faceplates for the Video Doorbell 3 come in a total of five finishes – Halloween, Americana, Autumn, Snowflakes, and Christmas. All five of them look very nice in the images (embedded below) and will surely impress your trick-or-treaters.

Each of these faceplates is reasonably priced at $14.99. There is also a three-pack option that includes Autumn, Snowflakes, and Christmas finishes. It comes with a price tag of $39.99. Ring is also selling festive-themed faceplates for the last-gen Video Doorbell 2. However, they all come in completely different designs.

Users can replace the existing faceplate with these new options with a security screw on the bottom. Ring also released new chime tones to get your whole house in the Halloween spirit. The newly added chimes include Bats, Ghosts, Howl, Scream, Spooky Organs, Witch Cackle, Creepy Laugh, Screeching Cat, and Creaking Door.

Users can also set Halloween-themed chime tones

All the Ring Chime or Chime Pro users can set one of these new chimes for their video doorbells. For others, the company is allowing them to set these new tones for their Ring app notifications. To select one of the new Halloween-themed chimes, open the Ring app on your phone and tap on the three lines menu on the top left.

Now open the ‘Devices’ section and select the device you want to set a custom alert tone to. Tap on “Device Settings” and go to Alert Settings > App Alert Tones. It will show a whole library of chimes to pick through. For the Doorbell, users can choose different sounds for motion alerts and doorbell rings.

In addition, other video doorbells can have different chimes to easily distinguish them from one another. Both the Ring Video Doorbell 3 and the Video Doorbell 3 Plus were launched earlier this year for $199.99 and $229.99 respectively.

During its annual hardware event held last month, Amazon also announced the Ring Always Home Cam, an autonomous drone-style camera for indoor use. By the end of this year, the company also confirmed that it will offer end-to-end encryption for video footage to all its users for free.
