SteelSeries continues to push the envelope in gaming with new products, and its latest peripheral is a gaming mouse that is not only ultra-lightweight, but also water-resistant.
The Aerox 3 wired gaming mouse weighs just 57g. Compare that to Razer’s 61g Viper Mini, which the company also calls ultra-lightweight, and you begin to see just how light the Aerox 3 really is.
Now, granted, the difference between 57g and 61g is not exactly a wide chasm. But it might mean a world of difference to gamers who are trying to shave off any weight they can from their mice. And if speed and precision are important to you, then picking the lightest quality gaming mouse possible is probably worth considering.
The Aerox 3 uses a new super mesh USB-C cable, which SteelSeries says has aftermarket customization. That presumably means you can swap it out for another USB-C cable. Though you’d probably want to make sure anything you use will serve the same intended purpose.
SteelSeries also made a wireless version of its water-resistant gaming mouse
If wired mice aren’t your thing, the Aerox 3 comes in a wireless version too. It’s a little heavier at 66g, due to the added weight from the wireless technology inside.
Both the wireless and wired versions of the SteelSeries Aerox 3 gaming mouse carry an IP54 rating, so it’s important to understand that this means water-resistant and not waterproof. The mouse can be sprayed with water, or you could spill some on it, and it should be ok. You cannot however submerge it in water for any length of time.
Aside from the weight and the water-resistant rating, the Aerox 3 Wireless is in it for the long haul when it comes to battery life. It can last for up to 200 hours on a single charge in Bluetooth mode. Or, 80 hours with the 2.4GHz wireless mode.
So depending on how many hours you play a day, you could potentially be using it for weeks on a single charge. It also connects through 2.4GHz or Bluetooth. And you can use the USB-C super mesh cable that it comes with to charge while you play.
On top of that only 15 minutes on the charging cable will net you 40 hours of wireless play. So you could just take a quick break from whatever game you’re playing and come back to nearly two full days worth of battery life.
Both mice launch on November 10, but you can already pre-order on Amazon
If this sounds like your next gaming mouse, you can pick one up starting November 10. You’ll be able to grab them from SteelSeries or retail partners like Best Buy. The Aerox 3 will retail for $59.99, while the Aerox 3 Wireless will retail for $99.99.
As of right now, SteelSeries’ website only has notify me buttons up. And you can’t actually pay for either version of the mouse. Amazon however has the Aerox 3 available for pre-order. So if you wanted the wired version you can pay for it there.
Amazon says it’ll be released on November 3, though this date may be wrong.
