Long-time Android OEM TCL has a brand new entry in its new 10 series for Verizon, dubbed the TCL 10 5G UW. For clarity, the series is the first major release from TCL under its own branding. The company has been responsible for BlackBerry, Palm, and other well-known brands. And, as the new branding might suggest, the company’s latest handset is a Verizon exclusive 5G smartphone. Specifically intended to take advantage of high-speed mmWave data connections.
Building on trends set by the award-winning TCL 10 Pro, the new 10 5G UW packs some impressive features too. That starts with a Qualcomm processor that’s very nearly a flagship processor — the octa-core Snapdragon 765G. TCL backed that up with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, expandable via microSD card up to 256GB more.
But what’s so special about the TCL 10 5G UW on Verizon?
TCL enabled the 6.53-inch Full HD+ LCD 2.5D display on the 10 5G UW with its proprietary NXTVISION technology. That’s a display technology that ensures natural hues and brightness based on environmental lighting. But it also upscales SDR content to HDR and ensures HDR10 support. In other TCL handsets, that’s resulted in a display that punches well above the pricing. So that should remain the case here as well.
That’s in addition to standards like Dark Mode and NXTVISION-specific reading and comfort modes.
The company also includes a triple camera at the back, embedded just above the phone’s rear-mounted fingerprint scanner in a horizontal orientation. The cameras in this device are a 48-megapixel high-resolution primary snapper, coupled with an 8-megapixel super-wide and 5-megapixel macro camera. The latter shoots at as close as two centimeters.
The cameras also come packed with the latest features. From 4-in-1 big pixel tech for better low light shots in the 16-megapixel selfie camera to Super Night Mode and slow-motion video at up to 32-times slower than standard video.
All tucked into a clean design with the company’s Android 10-based TCL UI and access to the fastest 5G in the US. Namely, Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband and its incoming nationwide sub-6 network.
