Razer makes some of the most colorful gaming products around and now Yeelight can be a part of that.
The former is gaming’s premiere lifestyle brand. The latter is a smart home lighting solution. Now the two are working together to make your gaming setup more colorful. How you ask? Through Razer Chroma.
Earlier this month, Yeeelight officially announced that its color light bulbs and lightstrips would be compatible with the Razer Chroma Connector. Allowing you to sync those products up with your gaming experience and other Razer Chroma-powered peripherals.
The more Razer Chroma peripherals you have, the better the lighting experience. Especially with room lights to help make your gaming sessions more ambient and more immersive.
Yeelight color bulbs and lightstrips now support Razer Chroma
While the Yeelight color products are now compatible with Razer Chroma, things don’t just work right out of the box.
There are a few things you need to do to get everything set up and working properly. Also worth noting is that this compatibility doesn’t just include Yeelight’s color bulbs and lightstrips. It also includes Yeelight’s color lamps.
In terms of the setup, you have to integrate the lights with the Chroma Connector and make sure you’re on the latest version of the Synapse 3 software. Which is how all of Razer’s peripherals and settings are managed. At least for any of the newer products from around 2017 onward.
Announced at RazerCon 2020, available now
To get this entire setup working, everything you need is already available.
Razer and Yeelight announced the compatibility at RazerCon 2020. And all the tools are available as of right now. The Yeelight products have been available on the market for a while. Razer Synapse 3 has also been available for a few years.
All that wasn’t available was the Chroma Connector for Yeelight. That was however just recently launched. Which means if you’ve got a mind to sync up your game lights, there’s not a whole lot holding you back.
Worth mentioning is that Yeelight color bulbs and lightstrips are a fraction of the cost of competing products. Both Philips Hue and LIFX RGB lighting products are much more expensive.
So thanks to this partnership between the two companies, you can get Chroma lighting for your entire game room for a lot less than before. A single Yeelight color bulb runs for about $30. Meanwhile the lightstrip kit runs for about $70 but it’s on sale right now on Amazon for $53. Both also work with Alexa and Google Assistant.
