200W+ Fast Charging Is Likely Coming To Smartphones In 2021

200W+ fast charging seems to be on its way, at least according to information from China. A well-known tipster claims that 200W+ fast charging is coming to smartphones in 2021. This information comes from Digital Chat Station, who published it on Weibo.

200W+ fast charging is coming, and Xiaomi may be first to deliver it

As some of you already know, several companies have announced 100W+ fast charging thus far. Companies like OPPO and Xiaomi, for example. Well, it seems like that was only a brief stepping stone towards 200W+ charging.

The tipster did not specifically say that Xiaomi will be first to announce it, but it’s possible. He did mention Xiaomi in that very same tweet, so it may be related. Speaking of which, he mentioned Xiaomi for a reason.

Next-gen Xiaomi Mi MIX is not coming, it seems. The tipster said that Xiaomi has no plans for the next-gen Mi MIX smartphone, at least not for now. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 never arrived, and we may have to wait a bit longer for a new Mi MIX phone, if it ever arrives.

Expect to see quite a few smartphones with under-display cameras in 2021

That being said, the source also touched upon under-display cameras. He did mention that there are plans for mass production of smartphones with under-display cameras, as expected. 2021 will be the year of under-display camera smartphones, it seems.

Now, as already mentioned, Xiaomi was not specifically mentioned in the sentence with 200W+ fast charging, nor under-display cameras, but we have a feeling all this information is Xiaomi related. The tipster did open the tweet with information about a Xiaomi device after all.

That doesn’t mean that other companies are not working on new phones with under-display cameras, or 200W+ fast charging, though. OPPO is probably developing its own 200W+ fast charging as we speak.

All in all, it seems like 2021 will be a rather interesting year when it comes to smartphone technology. 100W+ fast charging is insanely fast, which means that 200W+ will be… well, unreal almost.
