Amazon has just launched its Product (RED) version of the new fourth-generation Echo smart speaker. Which is a really bold looking smart speaker from Amazon, vastly different from the other colors that are available for the Echo.
With the Product (RED) Echo, Amazon is going to be donating $10 from each sale to the Global Fund to support COVID-19 response and HIV/AIDS programs in sub-Saharan Africa. So if you want to buy an Echo, but also help others, then the Product (RED) model is definitely worth grabbing.
In previous years, Amazon had done a Product (RED) model of the Echo Dot, but that has not happened yet this year. That may change in the coming weeks though.
It’s the same Echo we all know and love
There’s nothing new about this Product (RED) Echo smart speaker, other than the color. It’s the same ball-shaped smart speaker that Amazon announced back in September.
It has Amazon Alexa built-in, which is what makes it a “smart” speaker, anyways. So you can ask Alexa questions about different things, get the latest news and so forth.
It is a smart speaker, of course, so you can also use it to play music. Amazon supports Music Unlimited, Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal and many other services. The audio quality on the new Echo is actually really impressive. And since it is shaped like a ball, it does a really good job of filling up a room with sound too.
Additionally, the Echo also works as a Zigbee hub, which is going to work with a lot more smart home products. Without having to buy any dedicated Zigbee hardware, which is also very important.
You can pick up the Product (RED) Echo from Amazon today by clicking here. It’s unclear if the Product (RED) Echo will be discounted on Black Friday or not, but the other colors will be. The Echo costs $99.
