Google Play Store Voting Is Now Open For Your Favorite Apps

Google has now opened its Play Store voting for you to decide what you favourite Android apps, games, books, and movies were for this year. As reported by 9to5 Google, Google Play is preparing its Best of 2020 roundup.

Overall this is a story that Google will want to push hard after a difficult year for the Play Store. They have faced a number of issues over its transaction fees and the implications this has had on antitrust issues.

This still rumbles on but now Google will want to focus more on this Play Store Voting and other positive changes the store has made. This includes taking away the Hamburger UI in favour of a more up to date design.

Google Play Store has therefore reopened its voting system for its users to have a say on the best content of the year. It is normally a celebration of the year’s best bits and in an unusual year, it will be interesting to see what will come out on top.

Google opens Play Store polls for awards

Users will be able to vote for their favourite Android app, game, book, and movie. Each category has a shortlist of 10 items that have trended in the past year. This is also localized for each country. Below are the options for the U.S.

For Apps, this list is as follows; Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint & More, Disney+, VITA, Reface (Doublicat), The Pattern, Centr, by Chris Hemsworth, Speekoo, Dolby On: Record Audio & Music, Whisk: Turn Recipes into Shareable Shopping Lists and Vimeo Create – Video Maker & Editor.

No major surprises here with the notable inclusion of the likes of Disney+ which made a splash this year. It is also interesting to see Vimeo Create also make an appearance.

For Games, the 10 items are Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells, Arknights, SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off, Legends of Runeterra, The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, Genshin Impact, Disney Sorcerer’s Arena, Grand Hotel Mania, Cell to Singularity – Evolution Never Ends and EverMerge.

Again here we see another Disney inclusion demonstrating the companies a stellar year. We also see the franchise games of Harry Potter and SpongeBob make the shortlist.

In terms of books the list comprises of, If It Bleeds, Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art, Me & White Supremacy, Mexican Gothic, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, The Vanishing Half, Untamed, Wow, No Thank You, Midnight Sun, Harrow the Ninth.

Finally, the movie shortlist is made up of Trolls World Tour, The Invisible Man, Parasite, Knives Out, Just Mercy, Frozen II, Bloodshot, Birds Of Prey And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, Bill & Ted Face the Music, Bad Boys for Life.

In a strange year for all, there are certainly some interesting choices on all the lists. It will be interesting to see how the voting turns out with many varying options available.
