If you were thinking to opt for Hulu Live TV, then this post is just for you. Because, on November 15, Hulu has increased its Live TV package price to $65/month.
For those who do not know, the previous price of the Hulu Live TV streaming package was $54.99. So, there is an increase of $10 straight up. These new prices will come into effect from December 18.
Note that this price increase by Hulu has been done in context with the prices of YouTube TV. This would make Hulu Live TV a competing live TV bundle with YouTube TV.
It was last year when Hulu hiked the price of its Live TV bundle. It increased the prices from $44.99 to $54.99 on December 18th, 2019. So, we are seeing a trend here, that on December 18, Hulu users should get an alert.
Hulu+ Live TV made its debut into the scene with a price tag of $40/month in mid-2017. The price shot up to $54.99/month by December 18, 2019.
And now, for 2020, the new pricing is set at $64.99. Notably, this is the price for a package with over 65 live channels. Additionally, users will also get access to Hulu’s ad-supported library of on-demand shows and movies.
Hulu Live TV has more than 4 million customers, which is approx 1 million more than YouTube TV
Good thing is that Hulu Live TV service is growing. It has more than 4 million customers, and this is approximately 1 million more than what YouTube TV has.
Hulu Live TV package saw a subscriber surge of 40% in the last one year. Apparently, Hulu has sent notices to its subscribers about the price changes that will happen from December 18.
Moreover, it has also updated its official website with the same changes in pricing. As per the new plan, the cheapest plan that anyone can subscribe for is the ad-supported streaming library, without any live channels, at $5.99 a month.
If you want the no-ads version of the same plan, then you will have to pay $11.99. For comparison’s sake, Netflix’s plan charges range from $8.99 to $17.99 a month after a price increase last month.
Walt Disney is the majority owner of the Hulu streaming service. While Comcast has a 33% stake in the company. And Disney has full operational control since May 2019.
Hulu price hikes bring it to par with YouTube TV. It has increased its prices from $35 in 2017 to $64.99 since June 2020. So, Hulu and YouTube TV are no longer budget options for video streaming services.
AT&T TV Now starts at $55 a month, whereas FuboTV’s family plan starts at $64.99 a month. On the other hand, Sling TV starts at $30/month. But note that content offering is not that strong of these services compared to Hulu and YouTube TV.
