Just yesterday, it was reported that an alleged Snapdragon 875-powered Galaxy S21 beat the Exynos 2100 Galaxy S21 in Geekbench benchmark scores.
However, the point to note here was that the Geekbench comparison was between Snapdragon 875 with Exynos 2100 SoC Geekbench score from 2 months back. With no surprise, the Snapdragon 875-powered Galaxy S21 came out on top.
But now, a new Geekbench score and some Exynos 2100 specs have been leaked, and it shows the true potential of the SoC from Samsung. It easily surpassed the Snapdragon 875 powered Galaxy S21.
Notably, both the Snapdragon 875 and Exynos 2100 chipsets will be manufactured using a 5nm process. Apparently, both chips are also expected to follow the same architecture. That is one Arm Cortex-X1 core, three Cortex-A78 cores, and four Cortex-A55 cores.
The thing that will make the difference is that both the chips will be clocked differently. As per the trusted leaker, Ice Universe, Exynos 2100’s Cortex-X1 core will have a maximum frequency of 2.91Ghz.
While its three Cortex-A78 cores will have a frequency of 2.81Ghz, and the four Cortex-A55 cores will be clocked at 2.21Ghz. Comparatively, Snapdragon 875Cortex-X1 CPU will be able to reach 2.84Ghz.
Whereas its Cortex-A78 cores will be clocked at 2.42Ghz. And its Cortex-A55 cores will offer clock speeds of up to 1.8Ghz. So, it seems like Samsung has made some significant tweaks to its Exynos 2100.
Will this mean the European Galaxy S21 will be more powerful than the US model?
Ice Universe further claims that the Samsung Exynos 2100 Galaxy S21 multi-core score has risen up to 4,000 points. While the Snapdragon 875-powered Galaxy S21 was scored at 3,319.
The difference can be clearly seen that the Exynos 2100 Galaxy S21 has surpassed the Snapdragon 875-powered Galaxy S21. But just like we gave room to Exynos for tweaking, we should probably wait for Snapdragon to reach its full and final job on its flagship SoC.
Qualcomm is yet to announce the Snapdragon 875 chipset. The scheduled date is December 1. There is very little room for improvements, but something is better than nothing.
This also brings us to another question, i.e. will the European Galaxy S21 will be more powerful than the US model?
Well, considering the performance of chipsets in the Geekbench scores, the Exynos model surely looks powerful. And if that is the case, we may have a Galaxy S21 Exynos model that’s more powerful than the Snapdragon variant for the first time.
Samsung has received flak from the users for selling underpowered Exynos powered Galaxy S series and Note series devices. While other regions with Snapdragon variants getting the best performance for the same price.
