Samsung is planning to announce three Galaxy S21 flagships in early 2021, and only one will feature a curved display. This information comes from a well-known source, Ross Young, a display analyst.
Mr. Young is usually spot on when it comes to display information, especially when it comes to Samsung. Therefore, we’re inclined to believe this information. He said that he can confirm that the Galaxy S21 and S21+ will feature flat displays.
Both phones will include curved glass on top of those displays, of course, as any other modern smartphone, so keep that in mind. The displays themselves, however, will be flat, unlike the ones on the Galaxy S20 series.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 series will likely be announced in January, while it will go on sale in February, at least in the US. The Samsung Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra will be announced.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra will feature a curved display, and offer S Pen support
The Galaxy S21 Ultra may actually become the very first Galaxy S smartphone to offer S Pen support. The device will not ship with the S Pen, though, nor will it have a special dock for it. It will simply support it, as an option.
All three of those phones are expected to ship with high refresh rate AMOLED displays. We’re expecting all three to offer a 120Hz refresh rate, while we’re not sure about the resolution.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra will almost certainly include a QHD+ panel, while the other two may as well, like their predecessors. That information hasn’t surfaced yet, though, so… we’ll have to wait.
Android 11 will come pre-installed on all three phones, with Samsung One UI skin on top of it. The Snapdragon 875 will fuel these devices in the US and China, while the Exynos 2100 will do it in Europe and India.
All three devices already surfaced in CAD-based renders, so we know what to expect in terms of the design. Samsung will alter the design a little bit, but it won’t make drastic changes.
