In an official blog yesterday, Zoom is adding two new security features to the video calling app that is meant to remove and report disruptive meeting participants.

In simpler terms, these new additional Zoom security features have been added in order to tackle trolls. Notably, with the help of these new security features, the host and co-host get some new controls over the meetings.

Apparently, they can pause the meeting while they go head-on with the one who is disrupting the meeting. All the breakout rooms will be closed when the host or co-host suspends participant activities via the security icon located in the top left of the screen.

Moreover, Zoom will put the video, audio, chat, screen sharing, or recording options on hold, if the security icon is pressed. These are some crucial Zoom security features that would put to rest the trolls. Or someone who was eyeing for disrupting a meeting.

Zoom is one of the popular video conferencing apps. If there is something that has benefitted from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is the Zoom video calling app.

The surge in the number of users for Zoom has been remarkable. And the company is continuously adding more users to its tally. Thanks to work from home or study from home culture becoming the new norm.

Zoom hosts and co-hosts can report anyone to Zoom’s Trust & Safety team

Good thing is that Zoom has not limited these security features only to the hosts of the video call. In fact, co-hosts can also report anyone to Zoom’s Trust & Safety team.

Participants can also report someone via the security icon too. If you are willing to check out the new enhanced security features for the Zoom app, then you need to install the latest 5.4.3 version of the desktop and mobile apps.

For those who are using Zoom web client, this feature would arrive somewhere later this year. With all these advanced security features, Zoom is also adding At Risk Meeting Notifier system.

This system would ultimately scan public social media posts along with other websites for publicly shared Zoom Meeting links. If it finds a Zoom meeting link with a high risk of being disrupted, it will automatically alert the account owner by email.

It will alert the owner beforehand and also provide further advice on what to do. The actions that can be taken include deleting the vulnerable meeting and creating a new one with a new meeting ID and enabling security settings.

In fact, it also includes using another Zoom solution, like Zoom Video Webinars or OnZoom.
