DoorDash, Grubhub & Uber Eats all saved us in 2020 when we couldn’t leave our homes.
Apps are at the center of everything we do with our smartphones, and quite honestly this past year, Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grubhub have probably been at the center of that app usage.
While everyone has their preferences, as some like Uber Eats while other prefer DoorDash, all three of these apps have been a wonderful tool for many people the last 9 months. Which is why our award for best app of 2020 is a three-way tie between them.
It hasn’t been easy to stay cooped up at home for nearly the entire year. Lockdowns have required people to stay home, leaving only for necessities like food and other essentials, or to go to work if those people were considered essential workers.
Those lockdowns also heavily impacted the restaurant industry. With many having to scale back on production just to make ends meet. Some had to close forever because the lack of business was just too much. This is where apps like Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grubhub have come in handy.
An app like Uber Eats has helped restaurants while keeping the public fed
Sure, it’s probably been a somewhat challenging adjustment for people to give up the ability to go out and eat at restaurants. But more importantly, the restaurants themselves have had to make some huge changes due to the loss of all that business.
This is why food delivery apps like the three we’ve selected for the award have been so crucial. They have not only allowed people to continue getting food from the restaurants they love, they’ve also allowed people to support local businesses. It’s not the idea situation, of course. But in a climate where this is the only revenue that some restaurants have been able to gather, it’s probably a godsend.
In addition to all that Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grubhub have updated their apps to somewhat account for all these changes to the way we enjoy food at establishments. The apps are also extremely easy to use and because of the situation that everyone is in right now, more and more restaurants have opted in to food delivery services.
Not everywhere, sure, but many have certainly started working with food delivery since March. Which makes each of these apps better for the user because there’s more places to choose from.
With all that being said, food delivery apps are more than just a convenience. They’re a great to stimulate the local economy by supporting local restaurants that aren’t chains. So if you’re feeling a little peckish and you have the means, consider finding a restaurant you love and ordering something to have it delivered from an app like Uber Eats, DoorDash, or Grubhub.
