Amazfit Announces Two New Smartwatches With 24-Day Battery Life

Amazfit today announced two new smartwatches for its already robust lineup, both of which come with a 24-day battery life.

Compared to the last two smartwatches from Amazfit which lasted for up to two weeks, a 24-day battery life is no small accomplishment. That being said Amazfit did have to give something up in order to achieve this goal. Specifically the ability for either watch to connect to WiFi for features that require a data connection.

That means you’ll need to keep the watch connected to your phone for Bluetooth if you want to use certain features. But it does help the battery life.

The two new smartwatches are the GTS 2e and the GTR 2e. Updated versions of the GTS 2 and GTR 2 that released back in September. The battery life is only one of the differences between these two iterations of each watch though.

The new Amazfit smartwatches have more than good battery life

In addition to the ability to use the watch for a longer period of time between charges, both the GTS 2e and the GTR 2e can sense the temperature changes in your skin.

Amazfit has not been entirely clear on how or when exactly the temperature sensors would work their magic. But it’s presumed that they’ll passively analyze your skin temperature changes while you sleep.

If that is the case, then these aren’t a feature you will actively interact with at a moment’s notice. Instead you’d be able to view the changes and the data associated with them through the companion app. With the information that you look at being compiled from the night before. Perhaps over the course of a few days or a week’s time.

You’ll get mostly the same features as the standard models

Aside from the lack of Wi-Fi connectivity, both new watches will have mostly the same features as the standard models. Which includes the same size screens and things like the BioTracker 2 and the ability to track your heart rate as well as your blood oxygen saturation.

They also feature the PAI scores, and a waterproof rating that allows for submersion up to 50 meters. Amazfit hasn’t confirmed whether or not either of these watches will be releasing in the US.

Furthermore it hasn’t announced any official availability outside of China for now. When and if they do get a global release, you can probably expect them to be less than the GTS 2 and the GTR 2.
