Back at the end of August Amazon officially announced its first-ever wearable that it calls the Halo fitness tracker, and now it’s available to all US consumers.
When the Halo was announced it was initially available to approved early access members only. You of course had to apply for early access, much like you do with Amazon’s Luna cloud gaming service, and that hasn’t changed until now.
From today, anyone in the US who wishes to get their hands on the Halo tracker can do so for $99. It comes in three different colors, though Amazon does offer accessories for it.
That being said the accessories are just additional options for the strap. Instead of the three cloth color options you get in the box, you can swap the strap out for something made of silicone or different cloth strap. The silicone might lend itself well to the moments when you’re being active. Or maybe you just prefer the silicone straps all the time.
Amazon Halo is now available alongside numerous strap options
While Best Buy will be one of the retail partners for this device, right now it doesn’t appear that Best Buy’s website has any for sale.
Amazon does however, and it has numerous strap options to choose from too. You will get a cloth strap with the purchase of the tracker, and it comes in Black with an Onyx tracker, Blush with a Rose Gold tracker, or Winter with a Silver tracker.
You can also pick up an additional cloth strap in either of those three colors. As well as in Denim, Hummingbird, Mint Edge, Olive, Unicorn, and Volcano. The straps also come in small, medium, or large sizes.
The silicone straps only come in small and large, and it comes in nine different colors. These include Ash, Black, Dark Mint, Domino, Lavender, Pink Slate, Seafoam, Sunset, and White.
Halo sets the tone for your mental and emotional wellness
Halo has a few tricks up its sleeve but the most unique feature is Halo Tone. What this feature does is analyze the energy and positivity in your voice. It then uses that to display to you how you sound to others. And it’s intended to assist you in making improvements in your communication and relationships.
The tracker basically tells you how you sound to others based on the tone of your voice. The companion app can then visualize that for you so you can make any adjustments that you need to help maintain more healthy relationships.
Halo can also, according to Amazon, more accurately (when compared to currently available scales and other devices) measure your body’s fat percentage. Of course it also tracks sleep and the intensity of your activities.
