The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ has dominated as this year’s best Android tablet, hands down. And that’s not by a small margin.
Samsung has long been the industry leader when it comes to Android tablet devices and it set a new bar with the Galaxy Tab S7+. One of two offerings in this year’s Tab S lineup, the S7+ builds on last year’s Galaxy Tab S6 as effectively the only premium offering outside of Apple’s ecosystem. But it does more than just stand up for the viability of the entire platform.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ starts with a reasonable price tag backed by heavy discounts and trade-in offers. While the starting price tag for the premium model is $1,029.99, it can be purchased for as little as $479.99. That’s with a trade-in at Samsung’s site. Or for as little as $349.99 with an eligible trade-in.
Its pricing is just one of its stand-out selling points though. A magnetically-attached, redesigned S Pen is included out of the box. There are plenty of other accessories to spare, including a full-size keyboard space. And the company started with a screen size that effectively makes this a laptop replacement for those who want one. That’s on top of a best-in-class display, slim high-quality metal build, and great speakers. As well as top-notch charging and respectable cameras.
This tablet has it all. Making it an easy pick for our best Android tablet of 2020.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ delivers performance and a pen to match
Now, Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ is exactly as its branding implies. Samsung packed its slender shell with a Snapdragon 865+, just for starters. That’s Qualcomm’s top-tier gaming chipset for mobile. And Samsung backed that up with either 6GB or 8GB RAM, depending on the model purchased. The 128GB storage model is the only one that comes with 6GB RAM. Both others, at 256GB and 512GB, come with 8GB memory. Storage can be expanded up to 1TB via microSD too.
All of that is running Android 10, with a planned update to Android 11, on a 10,090mAh capacity battery for true all-day top-tier performance.
Making matters better still is Samsung’s widely-lauded S Pen. That’s a full pen-sized accessory here and allows pressure-sensitive, pinpoint-accurate interactions. Whether for art, productivity, or handwriting. Samsung’s S Pen has been iterated a lot over the years and this is its best effort to date.
Plus, Samsung includes the latest in connectivity to keep those experiences smooth, whether gaming or not. There’s both a model supporting both mmWave and Sub-6 mobile via 5G as well as up to Wi-Fi 6. Bluetooth 5.0 is embedded for more localized connections. As do PC syncing and DeX output.
The best display, speakers, and best-in-class cameras
Now, cameras on a tablet are almost never great, coming nowhere near as good as the best Android phones. But Samsung did a great job with this one. Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ is the best Android tablet for cams because it comes with three. That’s a 13-megapixel snapper at the back paired with a 5-megapixel snapper. An 8-megapixel camera resides at the front.
On the back panel, that camera joins a flash and comes with autofocus enabled. Video recording is at up to 4K at 30 frames-per-second.
Video compatibility on the screen is even more impressive. This is a 12.4-inch AMOLED panel supporting videos up to UHD 8K at 60 frames-per-second. The screen itself is a 2800 x 1752 WQXGA+ display. In addition to delivering the deepest blacks, punchy bright color, and great resolution, Samsung engineered the screen to support a 120Hz refresh rate too. That means that this display is arguably going to be the clearest, smoothest around from any brand or ecosystem.
Around the frame of that razor-thin-bezel display, Samsung took things a step further to offer the best speakers on the tablet market. In fact, there are four of those on the left- and right-hand edges when held in landscape mode. And Samsung tuned each to offer punchy, balanced audio via its AKG division.
Timeless design and accessories are just icing on this cake
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ design is incredibly similar to its predecessor. But the Galaxy Tab S7+ also steps forward in terms of refinement, easily making it the best Android tablet for design. And Samsung matched that with timeless colors to suit just about any user. Namely, those are Mystic Black, Mystic Silver, and Mystic Bronze. Although the 5G variant only comes in the black configuration.
Those colors meet up with the smooth curves of the frame for a sophisticated, serious look. But without diminishing the personality of these devices.
Plus, any of those configurations can be paired with plenty of accessories for a more productive or creative bundle. Not only is Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ engineered to work perfectly with standards. Such as the full array of Samsung Bluetooth headphones, from the Galaxy Buds+ and original Galaxy Buds to 2018’s Gear IconX buds. It’s also designed to be paired with a magnetic keyboard cover that offers a full-size, comfortable typing experience.
So if you plan to use your tablet for more than just play, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ is going to be the one to choose.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ is unequivocally the best Android Tablet of 2020
Hands down, Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ is the best Android tablet for 2020. Of course, it had some relatively stiff competition this year from the likes of Huawei and others. Nothing holds a candle to Galaxy Tab S7+. The only device that comes close is Apple’s latest iPad. And that’s going to require an ecosystem switch, for those who are fans of Android. In terms of cost-to-value, specs, and features, Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ is simply the best you can get.
