Now You Can Listen To Apple Music On Google Smart Speakers

Google smart speakers and other Google Assistant-enabled devices now support Apple Music as a default service. That’s based on a recent announcement from the search giant.

While the service has already been available on Android and some other devices for some time, this marks its first appearance with Google Assistant support.

What does Apple Music mean for Google Smart Speakers?

Now, one of the many issues for the Android and Google ecosystem is that Apple services such as Music haven’t been supported on its smartphones or smart speakers. Or at least that’s an issue when it comes to converting Apple users or convincing them to invest in those ecosystems. Apple has done a great job building interconnected services that serve to help keep its users loyal. And that’s likely to be the biggest implication of the change in question.

But Apple Music on Assistant-enabled devices like Nest Audio, Nest Hub Max, Nest Mini, and others will be equally beneficial to Apple. The fruit-branded company has been a go-to for music and other services for years. So opening up to Google’s ecosystem will also potentially serve to bring over Android and Google users. Namely, bringing them over to Apple Music.

The new service arrives on the speakers just in time for the death of Google Play Music. In effect, giving users one more alternative option to YouTube Music, as that replaces GPM.

This feature is already here for some

Apple Music started to roll out this week to Nest-branded speakers and display hubs. It’s effectively going to be available on any Google Assistant-enabled device in the US, UK, France, Germany, and Japan as of now. Other regions will undoubtedly follow but Google hasn’t specified as of this writing.

To get started, users just need to link up their Apple Music by signing in via the Google Home app.

Then, as with other music services, that can be set as the default. And users can simply ask their device to play any of Apple Music’s over 70 million songs. Features such as the New Music Daily playlist, Rap Life playlist, full music library playback, and others are available out-of-the-gate too. All accessible with just a few spoken words. And arguably making this one of the best music apps available on the platform.
