Cheaper Galaxy Z Flip 3 Variant May Not Offer 5G Support

According to a new piece of information that just surfaced, the cheaper Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 variant will not support 5G. The Samsung SM-F720F handset surfaced, and that is probably the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 3 handset.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 variant that surfaced does not offer 5G support

The thing is, this is probably the cheaper variant of the phone. The letter ‘F’ indicates this is an international variant of the phone. It is most likely aimed at Europe and the Middle East.

Now, Samsung’s smartphones with 5G connectivity usually include the letter ‘B’ at the end of their model number. Therefore, chances are this is a 4G only smartphone. Does that mean that a 5G model isn’t coming? No, not at all.

Samsung will likely introduce two variants of the Galaxy Z Flip 3, like it did with the Galaxy Z Flip earlier this year. What processor will it include, though? The last flagship SoC that comes in an LTE-only variant is the Snapdragon 855 Plus.

That processor fuels the original Galaxy Z Flip. Will Samsung use it once again, for a next-gen product? Well, it’s quite likely. That will allow the company to cut the phone’s price tag quite a bit. The Snapdragon 855 Plus is still an extremely capable processor.

The 5G model of the device will likely ship with the Snapdragon 888, if it becomes a reality at all

The 5G variant of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 will likely include the Snapdragon 888, though. That processor is the latest and greatest Qualcomm has to offer, so it makes sense.

On the flip side, Samsung could opt to introduce a single variant of the Galaxy Z Flip 3. That would mean that the whole lineup has been promoted to a mid-range category, kind of. That is the less likely scenario, though.

Samsung is expected to introduce several foldable smartphones next year, at least three, based on reports. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be the main foldable from the company, though. It is expected to arrive with the S Pen, and top of the line hardware.
