The very first OnePlus 9 hands-on images have landed. The images have been obtained by Phone Arena, by an anonymous source. The validity of these images has been confirmed by several sources, including Max Jambor, a well-known tipster.
As you can see, the device doesn’t have a OnePlus logo on it, though that is perfectly normal for devices in prototype stages. This device did surface already in sketches, and renders, but this is the first time we’re seeing real-life images of it.
This particular model is silver-colored. The phone is made out of metal and glass, with a curved back. It comes with three cameras on the back, two quite large sensors, and a third one that is much, much smaller. An LED flash is also a part of the rear camera housing.

What you’ll also notice is the ‘Ultra Shot’ branding on that camera housing. It is possible that the company will market it as such, though this is just a pre-production unit, so it remains to be seen.
OnePlus’ previous smartphone had camera specs printed out, while this one has the ‘Ultra Shot’ branding. OnePlus may revert back to printed specs, we’ll just have to wait and see.
From the front, the device looks quite similar to the OnePlus 8T. It has a display camera hole in the top-left corner, and a flat display as well. The display is the same size as the one on the OnePlus 8, 6.55 inches, though it’s flat, unlike the OnePlus 8’s unit.
Phone Arena has also confirmed that the device will feature a 120Hz display, and support HDR. Its display resolution will be fullHD+ (2400 x 1080), which results in a 20:9 aspect ratio.
A Type-C USB port, SIM card tray, and the main speaker are placed at the bottom. The source also confirmed that the phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 888, while this particular model includes 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
Android 11 will come pre-installed on the device, along with OnePlus’ OxygenOS skin. A 4,500mAh battery has also been mentioned. We still do not know what are the phone’s camera specs, though. The OnePlus 9, 9 Pro, and 9E are expected to become official in March 2021.
