Fitbit Sense ECG Problems Prompt Replacements From The Company

One of the biggest features of the Fitbit Sense was the ECG reader, but it seems problems with it have prompted Fitbit to send out replacements.

A post on the Fitbit community forums discussing ECG problems with the Sense has grabbed the attention of the company. It’s now confirmed that it has acknowledged the issue and is working to correct it for the users that have been impacted.

Luckily, it doesn’t seem that there are many users who have the problem in question. So that makes things easier for Fitbit given its solution. And it should be a little peace of mind for those that have a Sense.

Fitbit Sense ECG problems lead to replacement devices

According to Fitbit there are less than 900 Sense units globally which have this issue. While 900 may seem like a lot, it’s a rather small number compared to the amount of Sense units that Fitbit has probably sold worldwide.

So that means it’s not a very widespread problem, which should make it more manageable. Fitbit didn’t elaborate on what exactly the problem is. Just that it was related to the hardware in some way.

The end result of which makes it so that the ECG app can come back with “inconclusive results.” More or less the ECG app isn’t working as it should. Which is obviously a big enough issue to warrant attention.

Replacements are free of charge and no other devices are impacted

If you’re worried you might end up with an affected unit, you shouldn’t be. Fitbit says that no other devices are impacted by the hardware issue that was causing the problems with the ECG app.

It also says no future Sense units will have the hardware issue. So anyone considering a Sense should feel safe to buy one.

The Fitbit Sense is Fitbit’s most ambitious wearable yet. A feature-packed smartwatch that includes not only an ECG feature, but compatibility with both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant after the most recent update.

Not to mention all of the activity tracking, as well as sleep tracking and more. At $329.95, the Fitbit Sense is an accurately priced smartwatch. Fitbit is contacting any of the users who have an affected Sense. So if you aren’t getting any emails from Fitbit about the issue, then your unit is likely safe.

That being said you should still keep an eye out for any emails from the company just in case.
