Galaxy Z Fold 3 Display Will Be Smaller Because Of The S Pen

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 display will be smaller than the one on the Galaxy Z Fold 2, it seems, and the S Pen inclusion is to blame. The display won’t be much smaller, though, only barely.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 will feature a smaller display than its predecessor

This information comes from Ross Young, a well-known display analyst. He shared this info via Twitter, along with sharing some specifics. He says that the main display on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will measure 7.55 inches.

The main panel on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is 7.59 inches. The cover display will also be smaller, it’ll shrink from 6.23 to 6.21 inches. Those are the differences you won’t be to notice, basically, as the differences are minimal.

Ross Young did specifically mention that Samsung needed more space for the S Pen, which is why this is happening. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 will come with a docked S Pen, at least it seems that way.

The next-gen Galaxy Z Flip handset will arrive with a slightly larger panel

He also shared some information regarding the Galaxy Z Flip 3 / Z Flip Lite. The device will be larger on that handset, compared to its predecessor. It will grow from 6.67 to a 6.7-inch panel. That will be a 120Hz LTPO display, by the way.

That is pretty much everything the source shared. Both of these smartphones will arrive next year, of course, but we still don’t know when. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 may launch in Q1 2021, as its predecessor arrived in Q1 2020.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3, on the other hand, will probably launch in August, or close to that. We’re only guessing based on previous releases, but Samsung may alter those launch dates.

The company moved the Galaxy S21 series launch 6 weeks ahead, so the same may happen for other devices. We’ll simply have to wait and see what the company is planning this time around. Speaking of the Galaxy S21, the devices are expected to launch on January 14.
