The Google Pixel 5 Pro Exists, Well… Kind Of

Google has announced three Pixel smartphones this year, and none of them has a flagship-grade SoC. The Google Pixel 5 Pro is still the wish of quite a few people, and it seems like the phone actually exists… kind of.

This information comes from Ross Young, a well-known display analyst. He responded to a tweet from Max Weinbach, who shared his with for the Pixel 5 Pro, with a large display, the Snapdragon 865, 120Hz display, and so on.

Mr. Young quickly responded to that tweet, claiming that the phone “is on hold”. Based on this, Google actually thought about announcing it, or is still thinking of doing that. Which would suggest that they do have a working unit of some sort.

The Google Pixel 5 Pro exists, in a way, but it may not be the phone that leaked recently

The Google Pixel 5 Pro did surface recently, but not many outlets shared those images, as pretty much everyone assumed it’s fake. That particular leak may be, as the device seems to have an under-display camera.

On the other hand, it may be real, that may be the device in question. At this point in time, it’s unlikely Google will announce the Pixel 5 Pro. The Snapdragon 888 was already announced, so the timing probably isn’t right.

On the flip side, Google may look to surprise us, and launch the device after all. We’ll just have to wait and see. The Google Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, and Pixel 5 have been praised since they launched.

Google really nailed it when it comes to budget smartphones this year, while the Pixel 5 also received positive reviews. The Pixel 5 is actually the device that arrived instead of the Pixel 5 Pro, it seems, even though it has a mid-range SoC.

It seems like Google wanted to offer a great experience first, regardless of the internals, and the company managed to do that without using the Snapdragon 865. That is yet another reason the Pixel 5 Pro probably won’t launch, at all.
