Microsoft Delays EA Play For Xbox Game Pass On PC

Xbox Game Pass has a lot that it offers to the consumer, but one thing that it won’t have for now, is EA Play. For PC users at least.

Initially, Microsoft had planned to launch EA Play for Xbox Game Pass on PC on December 15. But the company has sent out an official statement that says the launch of EA’s service will be delayed for PC users.

This means that right now the only way you can access the games in this EA service is if you have Xbox Game Pass on your Xbox console. EA Play launched for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S the day that they launched. So it’s been available on those platforms since November 10.

EA Play is also available for Xbox One owners. So you don’t have to have one of the new consoles to utilize it.

EA Play on Xbox Game Pass For PC is delayed until 2021

Microsoft confirmed earlier this morning that EA Play would be delayed until 2021. As of right now there is no confirmed date of the new release time.

Just that it won’t be coming until sometime next year. For fans looking forward to playing some of EA’s top games through Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft is asking for patience. The company admits that it knows its users were excited about the release.

But the company also states that while it had intended for the launch to happen today, it needs more time. Now more than ever this is something that really probably hits home for gamers. On December 10 CD Projekt Red finally launched its long awaited and highly anticipated game Cyberpunk 2077.

After months and months of delays, eager fans have been diving into it night after night. But it didn’t take long before some players realized that the game didn’t work so well on the original PS4 and Xbox One. Which suggests that maybe, the game wasn’t quite ready for consoles and CDPR decided to ship the game for consoles anyway.

Players of course have not been taking it well because the game has quite a few bugs. Microsoft, by choosing to delay the service into next year, is taking a step towards potentially avoiding any major backlash from users.

You won’t need Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for EA Play access

Once EA Play launches for Xbox Game Pass on PC, you can get it two ways. You can gain access by subscribing to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. But that isn’t necessary.

You’ll also be able to gain access if you have just the Xbox Game Pass PC subscription tier. Which is a bit cheaper. Ultimate however comes with the cloud gaming feature. So that’s the better value if you can ever see yourself using it.
