Nokia 5.4 Announced With 6GB Of RAM & 48MP Quad-Camera Setup

HMD Global, the Finnish company that manages the Nokia brand, has now launched a new smartphone called Nokia 5.4. The phone is the successor to the Nokia 5.3, which came out this year in March.

Nokia 5.4 has now been launched globally and the phone packs upgraded specifications and slightly improved design as compared to Nokia 5.3.

Talking about the specs of the Nokia 5.4, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor. The phone is coupled with 4GB or 6GB of RAM. Nokia 5.4 offers 64GB and 128GB options along with a dedicated slot for microSD for expansion up to 512GB.

The display on the device is a 6.39-inch punch hole LCD screen. The punch-hole houses the device’s 16MP front-facing camera for selfies.

Moreover, at the back, the phone comes with a quad-camera setup. It has a 48MP primary shooter, 5MP wide-angle lens, 2MP depth, and 2MP macro lens.

Practically, you will get the best results from the primary lens only. And the 2MP depth and macro lens are just for decoration (not literally) purposes. Because a 2MP lens is useless for anything these days.

The battery that powers the Nokia 5.4 is rated at 4000mAh

Under the hood, Nokia 5.4 has a 4000mAh battery. It supports 10W charging. Unlike its competitors offering 18W fast charging, Nokia 5.4 comes with standard 10W charging support. Thankfully, it’s a USB-C connection and not the micro USB port.

Coming back to the cameras, the phone is capable of shooting in ‘Cinema’ mode. This mode captures videos at 24fps, which is FYI, a default frame rate used to shoot movies.

The Cinema mode also shoots content in 21:9 cinematic format. The camera on the Nokia 5.4 also supports 60fps video recording, but that is restricted to 1080p. When shooting in 4K, it can record at 30fps only.

The smartphone sports fairly thin bezels. However, the chin is thick. Nokia 5.4 runs on Android 10 out of the box and is an Android One device.

Being an Android One device, the smartphone will get support for two years of firmware updates and three years of security updates. Good thing is that Nokia pushes updates timely. So, you can expect the phone to get regular software updates.

It is a bit disappointing to see HMD Global packing the device with Android 10. It could have been better if it came with Android 11, as with two years of software support, Nokia 5.4 would have lasted till Android 13.

The phone is available in two colors, Polar Night or Dusk, and is priced at €189. Taking conversion rates in mind it is equivalent to or around $229. It will be available in other markets including India, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas soon.
