Samsung is set to launch at least two foldable smartphones in Q3 2021. The “affordable” Galaxy Z Fold Lite could actually debut earlier in the year, as soon as Q1.
The Galaxy Z Flip 2 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 are also set to be released in the third quarter of next year. Typically, that is when Samsung would release the new Galaxy Note device. But with recent rumors (and plenty of them) stating the demise of the Galaxy Note lineup, it seems pretty obvious that the foldable line is going to take its place in that time of the year.
Basically, instead of launching foldable devices throughout the year, they will all be released at the same time. However, that does not mean at the same event. Samsung could decide to launch them at different times, like it did with the Galaxy Note 20, Z Fold 2 and the Galaxy S20 FE.
Galaxy Z Fold Lite will have smaller displays
In order to cut the price, and make the Galaxy Z Fold Lite “affordable” Samsung is going to need to cut some corners. And one area is in the screen size.
Reportedly, the Galaxy Z Fold Lite is going to sport a 4-inch cover screen and a 7-inch main display. That’s a big difference on the cover screen from the Galaxy Z Fold 2, and only about half an inch smaller for the main display. It’ll still come with ultra-thin glass though.
As for the Galaxy Z Flip 2, it’ll have a 6.7-inch internal display with a hole-punch cutout for the camera. And it’ll be pretty similar to the Galaxy Z Flip that’s already on the market. But the cover screen will be much larger – and actually usable – at about 3-inches.
Then there is the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which may come with smaller screens than its predecessor did. There’s also rumors that it’ll be the first to have S Pen support and have an under-display camera. Both of which will be huge for this foldable smartphone.
