Snapdragon 888 SoC Will Consume Way Less Battery Than SD865

Qualcomm’s brand new Snapdragon 888 SoC will consume way less battery than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 865. This information comes from a well-known tipster, Ice Universe.

The Snapdragon 888 will consume considerably less battery than the SD865

He said that the Snapdragon 888 power consumption is “excellent”. He did not directly mention the Snapdragon 865, but he did hint that Qualcomm did not do such a good job since the Snapdragon 835.

On top of that, the Snapdragon 888 will also offer excellent GPU performance. The tipster says that the company “exceeded expectations” in that regard. So, all in all, it seems like we’ll be getting yet another excellent processor from Qualcomm.

That chip was announced quite recently, and the company made a jump from the Snapdragon 865 to Snapdragon 888. If you’re wondering why it skipped the Snapdragon 875 and 885 names, well, there are two reasons, basically.

First, the company felt like this is quite a bit leap in terms of what the chip will offer. The reason that was highlighted more than that, however, is the fact that number 8 is a lucky number in both India and China.

This is a 5nm processor

For those of you who are wondering, the Snapdragon 888 is a 5nm processor. For comparison’s sake, the Snapdragon 865 was a 7nm chip. The Snapdragon 888 is also coming with a new LTE modem, which is integrated this time around.

The chip supports Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E, and WiFi 5, along with supporting Quick Charge 4+. There are a number of additional improvements over the Snapdragon 865. If you’d like to know more, check out our detailed article about the Snapdragon 888.
