Xiaomi seems to be working on a new phone with a 360-degree display. The company has patented this design with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office), and it looks stunning, to say the least.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha successor could have a 360-degree display, three pop-up cameras
This seems to be a new and improved version of the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha. The Mi MIX Alpha was announced back in September 2019, but it never became available. Xiaomi was planning on selling it in small quantities, but that never happened.
It seems like the company shelved that idea to make room for a new and improved version. Well, at least it looks like it. Not every patented design becomes a reality, though, so keep that in mind.
Having said that, this phone does look stunning. Using it seems like a nightmare due to its wraparound display, but Xiaomi will probably think of that if it ever becomes a reality. The company did a good job with the MI MIX Alpha in that regard.
Now, another interesting feature of this smartphone are its cameras. The phone features three cameras, and all of them are hidden away. The device comes with a pop-up camera setup.
This allows the phone to keep its stunning looks, and you can use all those cameras as front or rear-facing units. The display is usable on both the front and the back, so… there you go.
This phone may never become a reality
It’s hard to deny this phone looks gorgeous in the provided renders. The thing is, if it ever becomes available, it will be extremely expensive. The price tag for the Mi MIX Alpha that Xiaomi announced was out there.
This is not supposed to be a phone that will be purchased by a lot of people, though. If Xiaomi ever ends up making it, it will become a premium-tier phone, almost a luxury item in a way. Some people will surely be interested, though
It’s hard not to notice this phone out in the street and admire its looks, it’s different. Having said that, don’t expect Xiaomi to announce something like this anytime soon, maybe sometime in 2021.
