YouTube Is Adding Several New Features To 'Premieres'

YouTube is now adding three new features to its ‘Premieres’ via a new update. Notably, these YouTube Premieres features include live redirect, trailers, and new countdown themes.

YouTube introduced the Premieres feature back in 2018. This gives the content creators the ability to create hype for their upcoming pre-recorded videos by creating a landing page.

Here they can gather fans and interact with them before the new video goes live. Moreover, it gives them an alternative way of generating revenue associated with live videos like SuperChat, Stickers, ads, and Channel Memberships.

And now, YouTube Premieres is getting three new features that will take the ‘pre-shows’ to a whole new level. Some creators stress on engaging with fans live before the video premieres’.

For them, the new update brings the ‘Live Redirect’ feature. It is meant to make the experience more seamless. Creators will be able to make use of this feature to host a live stream that redirects to the upcoming Premiere just before it starts.

Well, the whole idea of creating content online is to generate revenue and engage with the audience. The new YouTube Premieres Live Redirect feature lets the creators build up their fans before the video releases.

YouTube tested this feature over the past several months with some big names in the industry

Good thing is that YouTube tested out this feature with some big names and shows before today’s rollout. The big names include We Are One Film Festival, New York Comic-Con, BTS, Cardi B, and Justin Bieber.

Additionally, YouTube Premieres is also getting a new feature that will let the creators upload a pre-recorded video or trailer that will be featured on the Premiere landing page, ahead of the video’s release.

Apparently, the trailer can range from 15 seconds to three minutes. This is a great way to create hype for the premier ahead of the launch.

Creators can make use of this YouTube Premieres Trailer option to encourage fans to set a reminder so they do not miss the video’s launch.

Finally, the third feature, i.e. the Countdown Themes, is getting some new additions. A new set of YouTube Premieres Countdown Themes is added for different vibes or mood.

Ever since the launch of YouTube Premieres, it has been used by over 8 million YouTube channels. These channels include names like BLACKPINK, Tiny Desk, James Charles, Supercell, and Cirque du Soleil, among others.

Since the pandemic has hit several industries hard, everyone is going live via YouTube. However, in order to use the Live Redirect and trailers feature, creators need to have at least 1,000 subscribers starting.

YouTube has also clarified that the new set of Countdown Themes won’t be available for a couple of months. So, for that, we will have to wait a bit more.
