The Skagen Jorn Hybrid HR dazzles with its feature-packed minimalist design, making the Best Of CES 2021 award an easy pickup
It can be hard to get excited about certain tech, smartwatches especially, but it’s not hard to get excited about the Skagen Jorn Hybrid HR, a smartwatch that Fossil Group unveiled at CES 2021 this year.
This isn’t Fossil’s first hybrid smartwatch. But it is the company’s first under the Skagen brand name. This combination of tech with Skagen’s attention to detail is what earned it our Best Of CES 2021 award. There’s much more to it than that though.
While most smartwatches are content to have you tapping away at yet another screen, the Skagen Jorn Hybrid HR does the opposite. It pulls you away from unnecessary flair while also replacing the touchscreen with an E-ink display. So you still get some smart features but you’re not drowning in them.
Classic style, a few modern features, and a long-lasting battery are all you need
Skagen is a popular brand because of its more minimal design. Treating its smartwatches more like traditional timepieces that don’t stand out too much.
The Jorn Hybrid HR follows this principle. Even more so because it uses the E-ink display. But the decision to use the E-ink display is about more than just looks. It’s about functionality that doesn’t require a lot of hands-on time. Meaning you don’t have to babysit it. Specifically the battery.
There’s less to interact with and since there’s no touchscreen, the battery should be able to last you upwards of two weeks or more. The integrated heart rate sensor can help you track your heart rate during exercise.
And there are three customizable widgets on the face that can display specific details. Such as the heart rate, a step counter, and the date. It also relays smartphone notifications.
It’ll even track your sleep and it has connected GPS
Just because it’s designed to be more minimal doesn’t mean it has to be less functional. And building off that mantra the Skagen Jorn Hybrid HR has more to offer any would-be user.
Should you decide to keep it on your wrist after you hit the hay, it’ll track your sleep. Which you can then visualize through the use of a companion app on your smartphone in the morning. It also has connected GPS for visualizing routes when you go out for a jog.
Best of all, it comes in multiple variations, and only costs $195. All of these reasons and more are why the Skagen Jorn Hybrid HR earned our award for Best Of CES 2021.
