Today January 7 Samsung India announced its first smartphone of 2021. The new Galaxy M02s will be power-packed and enter the sub 10k arena. The announcement isn’t too surprising considering both the Galaxy M01 and Galaxy M01s were both successful in 2020. Samsung of course would like to capitalize on this and strike while the iron is hot to keep the momentum.
This new model will bring along some big upgrades. Besides a price of INR 10,000 (roughly $136 USD), the Galaxy M02s will come with a range of first-ever features for consumers in this price segment. Aditya Babbar, Director, Mobiles Business, for Samsung India said “as part of our commitment to Digital India, Samsung is creating, pioneering and affordable technology to cater to new and evolving consumer behavior.”
The new Galaxy M02s will be perfect for online education, gaming, entertainment or just simply staying connected. The new device will sport a big 6.5-inch screen, a large 5000mAh battery, and a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon processor paired with 4GB of ram.
To help customers enjoy their entertainment the 6.5-inch “Infinity-V” display will create an immersive view. Content streaming, video calls, and online courses will all benefit from the large display.
With an HD+ resolution, customers will find it delightful to binge-watch their favorite shows. And, don’t worry about running out of space. The Galaxy M02s allows you to “Max Up’ your storage with up to 1TB of expandable memory.
The Galaxy M02s has a big screen, a big battery, and a Snapdragon for a great price
Of course, many consumers will want to take advantage of the large screen by playing games on it. The press release says that the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor and has 4GB of ram. This will give consumers enhanced performance, smooth multitasking, seamless app navigation, and most importantly uninterrupted gaming.
In addition, specs are top of the line in the sub 10k segment. With all of this capability, you need a battery up to the task of powering it all. Luckily, the Galaxy M02s is Samsung’s first sub-10k device with a 5000mAh battery and triple rear camera. As a result, consumers will need to worry about running out of battery quickly. The battery should easily last a full day for many people.
However, if the battery doesn’t last someone a full day (maybe someone who is on their phone non-stop) there is 15W fast charging. So if you find yourself needing some extra juice you can charge up quickly so you can keep your day going.
The triple camera setup on the back has a 13MP main camera, a 2MP refined macro lens, and a dedicated 2MP depth camera. Hopefully, the macro lens is truly refined. Many OEMs include a macro lens, but they are typically bad.
The Galaxy M02s will cost INR 8999 (about $122 USD) for 3G of ram and 32GB of storage. If you want 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage that will cost INR 9999 (about $136 USD). The new device will be available in three colors. Customers can get a black, blue, or red variant from Amazon.in, Samsung.com, and all key retail stores.
