Google Assistant Prepares To Show Health & Fitness Data On Smart Displays

In a nice approach to keep everyone motivated to stay fit and healthy, Google has quietly added a new “Wellness” section on its Google Assistant to show your health and fitness data on smart displays.

We are already approaching the end of the first month of 2021. The previous year taught us many important things, one of which was to keep our body fit and healthy.

While most people have already adopted the fitness culture, the use of smart bands and smartwatches has also seen a steep rise. Google is also lending a helping hand and will now show your proactive fitness results on smart displays.

Notably, the “Wellness” section replaces the “Sleep” section that rolled out with the November 2020 update. However, the “Sleep” section is not removed, and it has been integrated under the “Wellness” section.

The new “Wellness” section integrates sleep with Fitbit. In fact, sleep is the only option available in this section. Good thing is that it will not be limited to sleep as Google Assistant will get more features in the future.

Because the page teases managing data gathered from various fitness devices on “sleep, exercise, and nutrition.” This means that Google Assistant’s “Wellness” section will soon give results on exercise and nutrition as well.

Google Assistant will show health and fitness data “proactively” on compatible smart displays

The important thing to note here is that Google Assistant will show all the fitness data “proactively” on compatible Google Assistant smart displays.

As per a report by 9to5Google, our friends were able to see this proactive data as options on the current Nest Hub, the Nest Hub Max, and the Lenovo Smart Clock. But the option, when enabled, did not show the results on the screen.

Anyone interacting with the Google Assistant smart display will also be able to see the results, once the features are turned on.

From all the above information, it is clear that this new Google Assistant “Wellness” data has deeper integration with Fitbit devices. Well, it makes sense as Fitbit is now officially acquired by Google.

So, if you own a Fitbit device, then you should expect some extra features. But that is just us presuming. None of the features have gone live just yet and seems to be a preparatory feature ahead of the new Nest Hub launch.

FYI, the new Google’s Nest Hub will come with Soli, to understand human motions, to better track sleep activity. It will be interesting to see what more features Google will bring to this newly introduced section.
