According to a new piece of information, the Huawei P50 series may arrive in both Android and Harmony OS variants. This information comes from a YouTuber called “Yash Raj Chaudhary”, so take it with a grain of salt.
As most of you know, Huawei has been affected by the US ban quite a bit. The company probably won’t release its next flagship SoC this year because of it, it can’t use Google services on its smartphones, and so on.
Many aspects of Huawei’s business have been affected by it, these are only some examples. The inability to use Google services has been especially problematic. Huawei’s users are used to having access to them, as are more or less all Android users outside of China.
Huawei has continued releasing smartphones, just without Google services, relying on its very own services and app store. Having said that, Huawei has been developing its very own OS as well, called Harmony OS.
The Huawei P50 global consumers will be able to choose between Harmony OS & Android variants
According to this new information, global Huawei P50 consumers will be able to choose between Android and Harmony OS iterations of the device(s). Harmony OS will be the only option in China, though.
The source also says that the phone will be fueled by the Kirin 9000, as expected, and that it will launch in late Spring, or even later than that. He also shared some additional info about the device.
The Huawei P50 Pro will utilize 8GB of RAM, it seems, along with 128GB and 256GB of internal storage. A centered display camera hole will also be a part of the package.
The Huawei P50 will arrive in both 6GB and 8GB RAM (LPDDR4X) variants, with 128GB and 256GB of UFS 3.0 flash storage. The Kirin 9000E may fuel the regular P50 unit.
As already mentioned, though, take this information with a grain of salt. It may be accurate, though it would be a weird move by Huawei to offer both Android and Harmony OS options. We presume that the source meant two completely different models, not a phone that comes with both options pre-installed.
