Well, in 2020, Motorola gave us multiple cheap Android phones along with some flagships in between. However, right at the beginning of 2021, on January 14th, Motorola will launch four smartphones, namely Motorola One 5G Ace, Moto G Stylus, G Play & G Power.
A new start to the year also brings tons of opportunities for smartphone OEMs to rectify the mistakes they did last year. And it seems like Motorola does not want to waste much time and want to start off 2021 with a band.
Among the three launches, the Motorola One 5G Ace is the most affordable 5G handset from Motorola. The spec sheet of Motorola One 5G Ace also shows that the device is fairly competent.
Right at the heart of Motorola One 5G, Ace is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G. Apparently, this chipset is the toned-down version of the Snapdragon 765G processor.
The SoC is coupled with 6GB of RAM and offers 128GB of storage. The One 5G Ace sports a 6.7-inch Full HD+ display with HDR10 support.
Under the hood, it packs a 5,000 mAh battery that is touted to last up to three days on a single charge. Moreover, there is a triple-camera setup on the back housing a 48MP primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide, and 2MP macro.
Other features of the Motorola One 5G Ace include a 3.5mm jack, NFC support for Google Pay support, and an expandable storage option. The phone is set to come at a price tag of $399.
Moto G Stylus and Moto G Power retain the same name as their 2020 predecessors
A notch below Motorola One 5G Ace is the Moto G Stylus. Yes, it may sound confusing, but the company launched Moto G Stylus back in 2020. So, this one is the Moto G Stylus (2021).
The phone packs small upgrades compared to the 2020 model. It is powered by the Snapdragon 678 chipset, which is actually better than the Snapdragon 665 found in the Moto G Stylus (2020).
It is coupled with 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 4000 mAh battery, which is the same as the 2020 model. As for the camera setup, it rocks the exact same triple-camera setup found on the Motorola One 5G Ace.
As for the stylus, it is just a passive addition. You won’t see or will be able to do much with the stylus as you can do with the Galaxy Note series. Seriously, no comparisons here. There is no NFC support and the phone will be launched with a price tag of $299.
Coming to the Moto G Power (2021) is actually a downgrade from its 2020 model. It comes with the Snapdragon 662, down from the SD665 found in the Moto G Power (2020).
Moto G Power sports a 6.6-inch HD+ display, which is another downgrade compared to the Full HD+ resolution found on last year’s Moto G Power.
Other specs include a 5,000 mAh battery, triple-rear cameras (48MP primary, 2MP macro, 2MP depth), and a 3.5mm headphone jack with expandable storage. There is no NFC support.
As per Android Central, the 3GB/32GB storage variant will cost $199, and the 4GB RAM/64GB variant will cost $249.
Moto G Play is making a comeback in 2021 in the US
FYI, Motorola did not launch the Moto G Play back in 2020 in the US. But in 2021, you can get your hands on the Moto G Play in the US. Being a budget phone, you should not expect out-of-the-world performance from it.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 powers the Moto G Play. It is coupled with 3GB of RAM. The display on the device is a 6.5-inch 720p HD+ panel. Under the hood, it is juiced by a 5,000 mAh battery.
Good thing is that it features the 3.5mm headphone jack, and there is a dual-camera setup housing a 13MP primary sensor and 2MP depth lens. It will be available for a price of just $169.
Sadly, all these upcoming phones from Motorola will be shipping with Android 10 out of the box. Yes, there is no numeric mistake here. It is indeed the Android 10 OS.
But Motorola has said that Android 11 will arrive on these devices in the future. There is no ETA, though. Pre-orders are available for the devices through Motorola’s website and retail partners like Amazon, Best Buy, etc.
