Going by the latest reports by XDA Developers, POCO may soon launch its POCO F2 smartphone this year in 2021 in India. Notably, the POCO F2 device could be a mid-ranger smartphone.
POCO created a stir in the smartphone market with the launch of POCO F1 in August 2018. Back then it was a sub-brand of Xiaomi. After that, the brand disappeared and there were no launches under the POCO brand.
Fortunately, for POCO fans, last year, Xiaomi detached it from itself and made POCO an independent brand. Following this announcement, POCO launched several smartphones in 2020.
The devices from POCO here targeted at different price ranges. But the company is yet to launch the POCO F2 smartphone, which may change soon because the latest video tweeted by the official Twitter platform of POCO India suggests so.
For the unaware, POCO India shared a video highlighting the progress that the brand made in 2020. And what all the fans can expect from the company in 2021.
Towards the end of the video (Tweet attached at the bottom), as spotted by XDA, the text “The F2” flashes. This only hints that the launch of the POCO F2 might be imminent.
POCO F2 may come with the new Snapdragon 732G
For a quick recap, POCO F1 was the phone that offered flagship specs at the price of a mid-ranger. Although being a success, POCO never released a successor to the POCO F1 in India.
There is a POCO F2 Pro smartphone available, but it was never launched in India. In fact, some believe that the upcoming POCO F2 could be a toned-down version of the POCO F2 Pro for the Indian market.
However, if we go by the recent leaks, that may not be the case. As per a telegram group named XiaomiUI Telegram group, the POCO F2 will be a mid-range smartphone.
It has been code-named “Courbet”, and it is speculated to be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 732G chipset. Moreover, the device is hinted to sport a quad-camera setup.
Under the hood, the phone is rumored to come with a 4,250 mAh battery, reverse charging, and NFC support. XDA confirms that Xiaomi is developing a new phone with the codename “Courbet” (“Courbetin” for the Indian market).
The above specs could be for an altogether different phone. We cannot confirm at the moment whether the device will come with the above-mentioned specs or not.
So, we would advise our readers to take this information with a pinch of salt and wait for the official launch.
The stage is set! The fun has begun! Let us get ready to take it to the next level!
