Samsung’s Galaxy Note series may have come to an end. This information comes from a very reliable tipster, Ice Universe. He shared a very straightforward tip via Twitter. An image containing “The End” writing got shared, along with the “Galaxy Note” caption.
We’ve seen various rumors last year claiming that the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra are the last Note-branded smartphones Samsung will launch. Some rumors suggested that the Galaxy Note 21 will be the last in the series.
The last piece of information surfaced towards the end of last year, saying that Samsung is still discussing it. Well, based on the provided information, the Galaxy Note 21 will never come to life.
The end of the Galaxy Note series means the Galaxy Z Fold series is taking over
The Galaxy Z Fold series is looking to take over the baton from the Galaxy Note series. The Galaxy Z Fold 3, which is expected to arrive this year, is tipped to include the S Pen stylus.
The device is said to ship with the S Pen, including a dock inside the phone, the same as on the Galaxy Note series. It will also likely support all the features you’d expect on the Galaxy Note series.
Samsung did announce the Galaxy S21 Ultra earlier this month, with the S Pen support. That device cannot dock the S Pen, though, and it’s not exactly the same as the support the Galaxy Note series offers.
The Galaxy Note series has been selling extremely well for Samsung. At first, it was hard to believe the company would do something like this, and kill off the entire lineup. At this point, however, that seems plausible.
Samsung is betting big on its foldable smartphones
Samsung is backing its foldables all the way, probably encouraged by the reaction to the Galaxy Z Fold 2. That device is a major improvement over the Galaxy Fold, and Samsung knows it.
The Galaxy S series is not going anywhere, as it will remain the company’s flagship lineup of regular smartphones. The Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold series devices will fill in the gaps later in the year, though.
