Samsung has started rolling out the Android 11 update to the Galaxy Tab S7 series. But instead of One UI 3.0, Samsung’s latest flagship Android tablets are receiving One UI 3.1 with this update. The Galaxy Tab S7, Tab S7+ LTE, and Tab S7+ 5G are all receiving the new update. They are the first Samsung Galaxy devices to get One UI 3.1.
The update is currently rolling out for users in South Korea. It comes with firmware version T875NKOU1BUA8 for the Galaxy Tab S7, T975NKOU1BUA8 for the Galaxy Tab S7+ LTE, and T976NKOU1BUA8 for the Galaxy Tab S7+ 5G.
The Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update for the Galaxy Tab S7+ LTE weighs more than 2GB over the air (OTA). The OTA file size for the other two Tab S7 models should also weigh in at around that figure.
Galaxy Tab S7 users in South Korea should receive a notification to download the OTA update over the next few days if they haven’t already. Since it’s a major update, we advise you to connect your device to a stable Wi-Fi network before downloading the OTA file.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 series gets One UI 3.1 with Android 11 update
Now that Samsung is almost done seeding Android 11 to its flagship smartphones, the company had turned the focus on its flagship Android tablets. As expected, the Galaxy Tab S7 series is the first to get the big update. Samsung’s official Android 11 update roadmap shows that the Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+ will start getting the update in March 2021. However, that roadmap seems to be a mere placeholder as we have seen on a number of occasions in the past as well.
It’s unclear what new features or improvements One UI 3.1 brings over One UI 3.0 if any. But One UI 3.0 itself packs plenty of goodies for Samsung Galaxy users. A feature-rich keyboard, support for chat heads, and a dedicated section for conversations in the notifications shade are just to name a few. Samsung has also made UI changes to streamline the menus, allowing for a more seamless navigation experience.
As mentioned earlier, the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update for the Galaxy Tab S7 series is currently rolling out in Samsung’s home country South Korea only. The company will likely expand the rollout to other regions in the coming weeks. You should receive a notification to download the OTA update once it becomes available for your unit. You can also manually check for the update by navigating to the Software update menu in your Android tablet’s Settings app.
