Samsung has started rolling out the stable Android 11-based One UI 3.0 update to the Galaxy S10 series. As of this writing, the update is available for the Galaxy S10e and the Galaxy S10 5G in Switzerland. However, it shouldn’t be too long before the update hits the LTE-only Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy S10+.
Samsung opened a One UI 3.0 beta program for the Galaxy S10 series back in November 2020. Over the last one and half months, the company has pushed multiple beta versions to the Galaxy S10 phones, introducing new features and patching the bugs reported on the previous releases.
It is now ready with the stable version of the latest Android iteration for the 2019 Galaxy S flagships. Note that those who were on the beta program might not necessarily receive the stable update straightaway. They may have to wait up to a week to get the update. Galaxy S10 users on Android 10-based One UI 2.x, meanwhile, should get a notification to download the update within the next few days if they haven’t already.
It should also be noted that the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 update for the Galaxy S10 series is currently rolling out in Switzerland only. It may take a week or two before the rollout goes properly global. Even then, over the air (OTA) updates are released in batches and may not be available for all eligible units simultaneously.
You can manually check for updates by going to the Software update menu in the Settings app. Since it’s a major update, we recommend you to connect your phone to a stable Wi-Fi network before downloading the OTA file. You might also want to back up the important data to avoid unexpected data loss.
Galaxy S10 gets stable Android 11 update
The Galaxy S10 series is the latest Samsung smartphone to receive the stable Android-11 based One UI 3.0 update. Samsung has already pushed the update to the Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy S10 Lite, and the Galaxy Note 10 series flagship phones. Android 11 for the Galaxy Z Fold 2, meanwhile, is still in beta.
This update brings tons of new features and enhancements to Samsung smartphones. Support for chat heads, a feature-rich keyboard, and repositioned volume controls are some of the new additions. Samsung has also made improvements to stock apps such as Messages, Contacts, Phone, and Calendar. The Bixby Routines feature is getting a new UI. In addition, you’ll notice some major UI changes throughout the phone.
