The PS5 and Xbox Series X are all the rage right now in the world of gaming, and VIZIO just started pushing updates out to its TVs that allow it to better support those two consoles thanks to some new features.
As of today, owners of various VIZIO TVs will be able to take advantage of new features that cater specifically to the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC gamers out there.
This also allows VIZIO to catch up to some of the other brands that already have products on the market which support the next-gen consoles. Some of these new features are really more of a future proof though.
VIZIO TVs will better support the PS5 with features like 4K at 120fps
One of the bigger features of next-gen consoles like the PS5 is the support for 120fps, and the new VIZIO TV update allows for “full bandwidth 4K at 120fps” according to the company.
But the PS5 doesn’t quite support 120fps yet. So this is one of those features that’s more of a future proofing feature. At least as far as the PS5 is concerned. Those that have a powerful enough PC can take advantage of it as soon as the update is installed on their TV though.
Provided the GPU inside their PC is either the NVIDIA RTX 3080 or one of the more powerful NVIDIA cards that allow for frame rates that high. Which is really any recent top-tier NVIDIA card from the 20-series too.
This particular part of the update also caters to Xbox Series X owners. As there are some games for Microsoft’s next-gen console that support 4K resolution at 120fps.
The update is hitting OLED models and models in the Quantum series
VIZIO is already pushing the update out to TV owners. But which ones? For starters, a range of the brand’s OLED models and the 2021 models it has in the Quantum series.
In regards to the Quantum series TVs, VIZIO is specifically pushing the update to 2021 models in the P-Series Quantum X and P-Series Quantum lines. The update also includes things like support for HDMI Forum VRR. As well as smoother framerates overall for gaming at both 1080p and 4K resolutions while Auto Game Mode is enabled at either resolution.
With the updates being pushed out as of today, users should start seeing the firmware being made available. Though it doesn’t appear that there’s a timeline for when the update push is complete and all users have it.
